Here is how we made it. This is the easiest homemade play dough recipes and this one does not use cream of tartar.

First, you want to gather up all of the ingredients you will need. These are common simple ingredients you likely already have in your panty.

You won’t believe how easy it is to make homemade playdough! Your kids will beg you to make every color there is!

Oh, and it smells amazing!

My kids love when we make this. If your kiddos do too, check out these best play doh tools from my friend Morgan. They are perfect for little kids!

Kool Aid Playdough Recipe:

Ready to see just how easy this DIY recipe is? It’s so much simpler than you think and the kids will love helping create this! It’s such a great educational activity for kids!

In a large bowl add the salt, flour and Kool Aid packet.

Pour in the water and oil.

Stir until it is well combined. It will be sticky.

Lay out a sheet of parchment paper, or clear off space on the counter.

Sprinkle the surface with some flour and dump the play dough out of the bowl onto the floured surface.

Add a handful of flour to the top of the play dough.

Knead it until it is no longer sticky, adding a little more flour if needed.

Now everyone can play with it. This is the fun part.

I have a cute heart shaped tray that was given to me last year as a gift. I stocked it up with play dough pins, cookie cutters and all things fun for cutting.

No need to spend money, use whatever you have on hand.

Obvioulsy this is a great project to do with even younger kiddos. Our four year old and six year old loved making this play dough.

Let your kids use a kitchen cutting mat to roll the dough out on.

Or, you can use these Valentine inspired ten frames play dough mats. Jack loved using these mats.

He also loved the cookie cutters.

If they are going to use the tens mats, have them roll balls or make shapes with the dough to make the tens box markers. (Scroll back up to download these mats.)

Fill in the box according to the number on the page.

We laminated these using these laminating sheets that do not require a machine.

If you want, have your little one color the bugs on each page before you laminate it.

One of my boys loved making a pretend pizza.

Luke’s was a smiley face pizza.

Matthew’s (4) was a pepperoni pizza. (He loves demonstrating, can you tell?)

And that is how super easy it is to make Kool Aid play dough. Store it in an airtight container.

This would make the perfect activity for a Valentine’s party at home or school. You could even give the play dough out as Valentine gifts in little airtight containers decorated with hearts.
