8 Reasons to Go RVing

Sharing is caring!

A few years back my husband came across a used RV. It was older and had been used by a couple of guys as a place to sleep while they went hunting.

We ended up with it.

I am not a person who likes to stay outdoors over night in anything but a house- but my kids and husband love doing stuff like this.

If we are spending the night away from home I am adamant that I want a warm shower and running water so I can brush my teeth.

Initially I was not thrilled about this RV. Slowly this city girl has warmed up to it.

My husband spent a very small amount of money (you guys have heard me share over and over again how thrifty he is) and fixed the RV up, making it more comfortable and homey. Like I said, this one had been torn down to the bare bones by the guys who were using it as their hunting sleeper.

I’ve learned that going RVing is the best of both worlds. My boys and husband can have their time outdoors fishing, hunting and enjoying the outdoor life, while I have running water and a place to cook dinner.

Ours attaches to the back of our Suburban (bumper pull) and goes anywhere we want to go.

Getting away and going RVing also gives us the opportunity to unplug if we want, or stay connected easily. There are many RV ranches you can find all over Texas (and other states) that are easy to hook up your electric and water as well as internet.

Ours has a full size bed for mom and dad, bunk beds for the kids, a table for dinner, a stove for cooking and running water.

It really is a win win!

Reasons to Go RVing

There are also places all over that you can rent an RV. So, if purchasing one is not in your budget, this is a great option too for family getaways and vacations.

This summer if you’re planning a getaway why don’t you Go RVing?

Here are 8 reasons you should go.

8 Reasons to Go RVing

  1. Kid Friendly– everyone has a place to sleep and it is not like a motel or hotel where you have to be in and out by a certain time and they charge you by the person. (Campgrounds do have check in/check out times and sometimes campgrounds limit the number of guests per campsite.)
  2. Comfortable– there is room for everyone. Ours sleeps six people comfortably, but we can easily make room for more. Lenny took the boys with one of our homeschool family friends. They all fit perfectly.
  3. Pet Friendly– no worries about paying a pet fee! Our sweet dog McCoy is always welcome!
  4. Tailgating– RVing does not mean you have to be out on land getting away as a vacation. Use it to tailgate! How fun would that be?!
  5. Affordable– like I mentioned before, there are camp sites all over the place (Texas and every other state) that allow you to hook your RV up to electric and water- for like $30 a day. Grab stuff to make sandwiches and you have an affordable get away.
  6. Date Night– make it a romantic night away. Go RVing as a time to reconnect and have adult time.
  7. Go Leisurely– RVing can be on your timetable. Not scheduled around best hotel rates, flight rates, attraction rates, etc. Decide on Thursday night you want to take the family RVing and get on the road!
  8. Make Memories– my kids absolutely love it! Every time we go they make memories that will last a lifetime!

  1. Oh my! I wish we had this opportunity! This list is exactly the things I’m hoping to gain from RV-ing! And yes yr totally right, it’s so easy to take a mini vacation if u’ve got an RV!

I love yr comforter and quilt – they remind me of Romanian countryside <3

  2. Rving is the perfect way to combine fun camping trips without having to sleep on a rock in your back 🙂 Bringing the comforts of home is always good especially when you have younger children so that they can rough it as they want and still have comforts when they are all camped out. I would LOVE to hear more about your RV renovation/purchase as my husband and I would love to purchase our own since we currently borrow my in-laws RV and that is a hassle with a lot of rules.
