Easy Dinner Shortcuts

Part of what prevents families from getting a hot dinner on the table is the fact that we over complicate things.

We have a tenancy to make things so much harder than it needs to be.

I am guilty. This is where my passion for meal planning came from.

The fact is, it doesn't have to be hard. I love when I can incorporate easy recipes and some other shortcuts to get dinner on the table for our family. photo easydinnershortcuts_zps90bd9140.jpg

I love shortcuts. Anything that makes life easier WITHOUT complicating our day.

This past week I tossed a beef roast in the slow cooker.

I peeled some potatoes and tossed in bag of frozen Parisian carrots.

The house smelled divine.

About an hour before dinner was ready I tossed a frozen mac and cheese in the oven. It one of Marie Callender’s.

I whipped up and batch of cornbread too and tossed that in the oven too. photo easydinnersides_zps4e6785e6.jpg

This nights dinner required LIMITED work and attention from me. It was so easy and reminded me of the dinners my mother cooked when I was a kid.

We sat around the table and enjoyed our dinner and one another. Our boys love this!

This is how family dinners should be!

This fall, Marie Callender's will launch the Comforts From Home Project by bringing the comforts of home to those who protect America's homes every day: the brave men and women of the U.S. Military. Every time you enter a code from a specially marked package of Marie Callender's meals or desserts, Marie Callender's will make a donation to USO2GO, a USO program that brings electronics, sports gear, books, games, and more to troops stationed in remote locations.

I shared with you guys a while back that I have a cousin I am very close to who is part of the Army Reserves.

She is just a few years younger than me and is a mom of two. Her husband is a youth pastor and she joined to pay off school loans. To know that companies like Marie Callender's isn't dismissing these families means a lot!
