Has school started back yet where you live? The back to school shopping is huge time of year. We can almost even compare it to Christmas!

Locally, I started seeing school supplies and other back to school must haves halfway through the summer. Between school supplies and clothes for several kids, the expense is something that has to be prepared for. Let’s face it, shopping is probably not something many of you are all that enthused about but as moms with kids in tow, but we must conquer it!

5 Back to School Shopping Tips

1. Plan out the store you want to visit. These is a must. With kids in tow you don’t want to be caught aimlessly walking around just looking. Know what your going for ahead of time and where your going to!

2. Check out those stores deals. Many family friendly stores are already honoring the fact that back to school is so close. By checking out coupons and store discounts you can save big on those items that are costly like shoes and backpacks.

3. Consider tax free shopping. I know some of you may be cringing at the fact that there are crowds on these dates but if you get there early enough and know where you are going there are savings to be had. With three boys entering school I certainly take advantage of the tax free incentives. All you have to do is check the dates for your state.

4. Don’t underestimate the power of the clearance rack. This is right where those end of summer sales are. Most of these styles can be worn well into the fall or even accessorized for winter wear too!

5. Get the kids involved in the shopping process. My kids really enjoy picking out things and styles that they like. For the older kids this is a great way to influence budgeting. Allow them to have a list to work off of and so much to spend so they are helping with the process.

Ever heard of the The Shops At Willow Bend here in the DFW area? This is where we geared up for back to school. Our shopping ventures to The Shops At Willow Bend were a fabulous location to do our back to school shopping. There are lots of family friendly shops. The Shops At Willow Bend are an ideal and quaint shopping location with big store quality. We were able to find something for everyone!

Another perk on our shopping experience was a stop at The California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. Shopping can really make you “hangry”  with kids in tow so this place was phenomenal for refueling and continuing our back to school shopping adventure.

The pizza was so good and the restaurant is right inside the mall. Perfect access for stopping mid-shopping experience to feed the crew and get right back at it again. With my kids pizza is everything!

When it came to shopping I noticed that layers are a really hot trend right now for kids. Much of what we bought were found either on the tax free weekend shopping perks or end of summer deals. Which made for some really amazing things! With a few inexpensive accents these guys are totally set for this year’s school year!
