The Perfect Homeschool Planner

Sharing is caring!

As we enter our sixth year of homeschooling, I am here to tell you, a homeschool planner can make or break your homeschooling year.

When I started off homeschooling, I was only teaching two of our boys. One year later we pulled our then 5th-grader half way through the year to come home and learn with us. Then a few years ago our youngest started kindergarten at home.

Eventually, we will likely add two more boys to our homeschool schedule as Luke Henry (who we are adopting) and potentially Jack (who we are caregivers for) will eventually be old enough to start learning at home as well.

With so many children focusing on different elements of learning, with different educational goals, task lists, and curricula, I need help sorting things out and managing our school year.

Plan Your Year Homeschool Planner

My friend Pam Barnhill has been homeschooling for many, many years. She has three children and has a knack for taking big tasks and breaking them down into bite-size, manageable pieces.  I need this in my life, now more than ever!

The Plan Your Year kit covers everything from attendance record tracking (which I do not have to do in Texas but I know many states have to), to goal setting (according to each child’s needs), lesson planning, multiple scheduling options, daily dockets, curriculum resource pages, book list creation, reading log tracking and even unit study preparation pages.

Having a homeschool planner that I can personalize to each of my kids’ needs is really helpful.

Homeschool Lesson Planner

One of Pam’s saying is:

“You would not homeschool your neighbor’s kids. You want to give your kids a personalized education.”

Boy does this ring true!!

Her planner is a great reminder that we all homeschool for different reasons and equally so, we all have reservations about homeschooling for different reasons.

While homeschooling for our family was my husband’s idea, once I was invested (and experienced success with teaching our kids at home) I could very quickly see things through a different eye.

I always knew we were not raising standardized children, and in Texas the standardized testing is huge. I have very specific desires for each of our children and each child is different and learns differently. Each child brings their own strengths and gifts to our home as well. Of course we are not going to teach them in a cookie cutter way. An effective homeschool planner helps me make this happen!

If you are in need of lesson planning help for your homeschool year, you should get your hands on this kit as soon as you can. In the Plan Your Year kit you get:

  • 79-page planning guide

I am here to tell you that over the years of homeschooling we have had amazing years and we’ve had years with struggles and lots of distractions. I am coming off of two years of harder homeschooling. Pam’s resources and encouragement have really been key for helping me keep my focus on our homeschool and family. Her community has helped me realize I am not alone in this journey and that managing homeschool planning can be done in bite size pieces!
