6 Ways To Soothe a Crying Baby

Sharing is caring!

Babies are simply so precious. If I could turn back time I would to enjoy just a little longer with them being small. I used to think when I heard, “They grow so fast.”, that it was just an expression. I was so very wrong. Being a mom is such a wonderful thing and the bond between mom and baby is just the beginning of an incredible journey as they grow.6 ways to soothe a crying baby

Although the adjustment of the first few weeks is always trial and error between a sweet mama and her baby, it is such a special time. The truth is, a crying baby is not always an unhappy baby, but as moms that signals the need for something. When feeding them, rocking them, and changing their diaper leaves you in a panic to figure out what is wrong give any of these six ways to soothe a crying baby a try.

Ways to Soothe a Crying Baby

1. Let them relax. Over stimulation made my babies so fussy. There is an awesome new product called the Boppy® Newborn Lounger. It is seriously such a wonderful new thing and perfect for babies up to 16 pounds. It is an ideal place for baby to kick and coo in comfort and it is perfect for those awake times baby has during the day. The design is soft and squishy with a recessed interior that fits baby’s bottom just right! On top of that it is super easy to clean. Just wipe clean any messy spots and you are good to go! The handy carrying handle make it easy to transport just about anywhere you go.

2. Wrap them up! It is amazing what swaddling can do for a baby. Some babies like it and some don’t. For those that do, it really mimics the womb and provides a sense of security for baby being all snug and soothed!

3. Sometimes babies need to be upright over your shoulder. This seemed to always dull the cries of my babies and they often times dozed a bit too!

4. Use some white noise. White noise can be a true saving grace. There are tons of cute little stuffed animals or just a simple noise machine with several options for soothing tunes.

5. Try a swing or bouncer. Swings are a necessity for sure, or at least they were for me. There is something about that motion and even a bouncer that has a vibrating effect for baby to become calm and satisfied.

6. Try skin to skin contact or a pacifier! Pacifiers offer a great way for babies to suck which is their nature in calming themselves. However if you have a baby that just isn’t interested then skin to skin contact is an awesome alternative!
