Cherry Dr Pepper Cake
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix, only using the dry mix
  • 1½ cups Cherry Dr. Pepper
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries with no stem
  • juice from the cherry jar
  • 1 cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, plus 2 more cups if needed
  • 1 chocolate bar for shaving
  1. Let me show you just how easy this is to make.
  2. First, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Gran a 9x13 baking dish and spray it with baking spray and set it to the side.
  4. Using a standing mixer, I love my Kitchen Aid, mix together the cake mix and soda until it is well combined.
  5. Cut the cherries in half and fold them into the batter.
  6. Pour the cake batter into the baking dish.
  7. Bake it in the oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center.
  8. You want to allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
  9. Now let's make the frosting. Using your standing mixer, cream together the butter, powdered sugar and cherry juice until combined and stiff.
  10. If your frosting is thin, add in more powdered sugar ¼ of a cup at a time until it reaches the desired thickness.
  11. Scoop the frosting onto the cake and and smooth evenly over the cake.
  12. Use a shaver or grater to add chocolate shavings to the top of the frosted cake.
  13. You can chop up a few cherries as well and distribute them
  14. You don't want to cut it just yet.
  15. Place into the fridge for an hour to allow the frosting to harden before cutting.
  16. After it's been in the fridge for an hour, slice it up and enjoy!
  17. This is totally a crowd pleaser!
