Do you have any plastic Easter eggs hanging around? Have no idea what to do with them?
Are you in need of some activities to entertain the little ones this summer? Maybe even something a little educational?
Well, I have a tutorial that is a bit crafty and a lot educational! Make sure you check out all of my activities for kids while you’re here.
Back around Easter I ran across a blog where the author shared a cool way to re-purpose plastic Easter eggs into an alphabet matching game. I did not bookmark it and I’ve tried Googling to find her site. I can not find the blog to save my life. So, if that was your blog, consider this my shout-out to you. 🙂
You’ll Need
- 26 plastic eggs
- uppercase and lowercase alphabet stickers (or a marker to write letters on the eggs)
- ziplock bag for storage
Gather your plastic eggs and stickers. I used larger eggs for vowels and smaller eggs for consonants.
Brilliant, I know.
This is a great activity to pull the kids in for. My five year old twins helped attach the stickers to the eggs.
We put the uppercase letter on the top part of the egg.
And then we put the lowercase letter on the bottom part of the egg.
See, the egg now matches when put together.
Only problem with my eggs would be that, according to my analytical little Nicky, the eggs really do not match because the big A and little a are different colors.
If you have very detailed children, it might be best to purchase stickers that are all the same color.
Just saying.
Now it is time for the game.
Take all the eggs and separate the tops from the bottom and throw them all in the same bowl and mix them up.
Your little ones will have hours of fun matching uppercase and lowercase letters to make the eggs whole again.
When you’re all done, store the eggs in a ziplock bag until you’re ready for more egg cracking fun!
How easy was that?
