Store Bought Bathroom Mold Cleaner

Sharing is caring!

As many of you know I am in the process of making our home a more natural one. I am really in love with essential oils and the solutions they bring to our home.

That said, I know that some of my readers are still interested in store bought solutions for their home. I respect that.

A couple of weeks ago my pastor’s wife wanted to know what I was using to battle mold in our shower/bathroom. Can I just say I hate cleaning the bathroom?! Am I alone?

I had no answer for her. The mold in the shower of our main bathroom is yucky. I am going to embarrassingly show you a couple of pictures. Mild pictures because I have shame. (wink)

I was given the opportunity to try a store bought bathroom cleaner that focuses on mold and mildew.  (I’m working with Tilex® on a sponsored post, but my opinions are my own.)

I am told that 100% of homes in the US have mold. That makes me feel a little better about my shower area. And, did you know that mold can grow in as little as 48 hours in the right conditions? All it needs is a moist, room temperature and an organic food source for it to feed on. This is why mold is especially common in places like bathrooms.

So here is the mold in my bathroom before….

Let’s pretend that mold grew in 48 hours.

And here is the after.

I still see a little soap scum, but you can see the mold is gone.

Here was my method…

I sprayed the tiles down with Tilex® Mold and Mildew Remover. Then I walked away for about 30 minutes.

I came back in and used a course cleaning brush and scrubbed over the tiles.

Then I used warm water from our removable/handheld shower head to clean the tiles off.

Here is another before and after of another section of tiles.

This section is right below the bar that all of our shampoos and body washes sit on. It collects mold mad!

I got really up-close for the before picture and it washed out the color of the tiles, but you get an honest view of the mold in my bathroom.

You can use Tilex® Mold and Mildew Remover on many bathroom surfaces including: glazed ceramic tile, grout, tubs, fiberglass, glass shower doors, vinyl curtains, sinks and no-wax floors. Spray and allow mildew stains to disappear, then rinse well.

What are you using to battle mold in your bathroom? Come on, no shame. We all have it.
