Creating a Simple Work Space for Mom at Home

Sharing is caring!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of CORT. All opinions are 100% mine.

With a houseful of kids you can bet there are messes… and a lot of them.

Let’s face it. When there are kids in the house, keeping things clean and organized takes an act of congress. Believe me, I know. Working from home and maintaining a good task. Aside from that, my work needs its own space. I need a space. I need my own place to breathe and think. A place to complete my work and feel accomplished. A spot in my home where I know I am checking tasks off my list and operating as a completely.

Working from home and maintaining a good schedule is a daunting task. Aside from that, my work needs its own space. I need a space. I need my own place to breathe and think. A place to complete my work and feel accomplished. A spot in my home where I know I am checking tasks off my list and operating as a completely well-oiled machine.

Do you work from home? If you do, you know just what I am talking about. Even if you don’t and you just have a home office for paying bills, creating meals plans, or hiding from your children and husband (I kid lol),  you know that space I am talking about.

We have a spare room in our home that is currently a place for kids to hang out and a desk in the corner represents a work space. Crowded and disorganized with a cup or two, the remnants of popcorn from yesterday’s snack, an old coffee mug, and a few game pieces to a board game. This space is where work is to be performed. This space is where my home business satisfies the requests of many customers, snotty noses, and a tired mom. Looking at my work space has me completely confused. How did my home office become such a disheveled space in my home with absolutely no space for anything, no room for organization, or even a pleasant appearance? What happened?

If you are like me, working under these conditions can be stressful and overwhelming. After all, when I glance around the room around me I think how am I getting anything done!

I need the essentials. I need convenience. I need to revamp my space to make it my own and a place of actual function.  CORT Furniture Rental offers furniture rental programs that are so flexible and affordable. Plus I can make my space totally unique with what they offer!

  1. I don’t work at home, but my husband does…and he is always complaining about how he doesn’t have his own work space! Sometimes, he’ll set up his computer on the dining room table, and other times, on the couch. I don’t know how he works like that!

  2. What a waste of money (renting furniture). No frugality here.

    1. Actually, this isn’t quite true. CORT has some awesome programs for the military. Have you ever furnished a house then had to pay for the furniture then move? Then move again? And the movers damage your stuff, over and over, so you’re constantly replacing it and sometimes with your money because you don’t want to wait forever for your money back on the insurance claims? If you’re only stationed somewhere a short time, CORT is an awesome solution and a money saver. They do all the moving for you and if you’re orders are sooner than you expected, there is no penalty. They’ll come and take the stuff, no questions asked. I’m not saying it works for everyone, but it’s definitely a great option for some of us – AND a money saver until we settle somewhere for good.

  3. Great ideas. We decided to make a little space for me to work on my blog It helps me stay focused and I enjoy having my space.

I agree! Having your own space is so important. If I shared my space with the rest of the family then I would never get any work done. This way I can just boot them out of the room lol.

  5. I transitioned from an office to working remotely, so having a space that has a good layout is so important. CORT has some really great programs for the military, too. We’ve been fans of them for awhile. Great options here.

  7. Ive been blogging from home and you are right organizing is key. With kids things gets so messy that u cannot find what ur looking for. Im thinking abt moving to a bigger place so I can turn a room into my working space.

  8. We are still building our first home after marriage and we are also considering having an office in one of the rooms. A convenient and comfortable office is essential not only for those who are working from home full time but also for every professional or business owner. This gives a special ambiance just for work.

  9. Cort sounds pretty sweet. I’ve never actually tried renting furniture before, but it seems like it would definitely make life easier in a lot of situations.
