I started to notice a change when I turned 35…

Sharing is caring!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pearle Vision. All opinions are 100% mine.

It all started about the time I turned 35. I could slowly see that my eyesight was changing ever so slightly. It seemed like the more I was on the computer the more I would struggle- especially as the day crept on.

As each year came and went, I could notice more and more of a difference.

On Sundays it was hard to read my Bible without glasses. Too much time on the computer and my head began aching. At Wednesday night bible studies I had to pull my book closer to my face.

In 2014, I officially became the proud owner of big girl glasses to be worn while I am on the computer and reading. About three months ago a special little someone broke those glasses. I literally look like a crazy person now when I use them to read with only one arm left on the glasses.

It was time for an eye exam* anyway, so I called and made an appointment. I have never felt so thoroughly taken care of as I did with the experts at Pearle Vision. I had to have the pressures in my eyes checked twice because my numbers were on the high end. I am just so thankful they payed attention to those details. Has that ever happened to any of you before? We also checked my depth of field-  I was happy to see I am doing well in that area!

Each staff person took such great care of me while I was there. They were all very patient with me as I asked many questions. And, I learned that the longer we use our eyes during the day, the more tired they become. Just like any other muscle. That is why by the end of the evening (especially on Bible study night) I seem to struggle even more to see moving my book closer and farther away.

My prescription had increased since my last exam* in 2014. I felt so well taken care of that I encouraged my husband to schedule an appointment too. He opted to get his eyes dilated as well and he really felt they were thorough in their services with him too. (I’ve never had my eyes dilated, have you?) He has moved on to progressive lenses.Since the appointments, they have called to check on us and ensure all is well. We really feel so well taken care of. They really have tailored to our needs. I realize now how important it is to get my eyes checked every year, as our needs can change, instead of waiting for our current pair to break. I really regret waiting so long!

We need to get each of the boys checked again as everyone is due. Nick and Luke have glasses and both have broken theirs. Matthew and Anthony do not have glasses but both have been complaining of headaches lately. Lenny and I both had a lot of fun picking out our frames.

I had a hard time narrowing it down, but Matthew (one of the specialists there) spent a lot of time with me showing me which frame styles were the best shape for my face, but also focusing on sturdy frames since my house is so active with little swiper hands who like to run off with my glasses when I set them down.

I watched them help many customers while I was there giving their undivided attention to each client.

Want to see the frames I tried and how we narrowed it down? I ended up falling in love with a pair of Dolce & Gabbana with rubber-like frames. You will love them too! And then I also got a pair of Guess metal frames because I like to have a backup pair.

I would love your feedback on your favorites in the video. What do you think about the clear ones and the Versace frames?

Both pairs of frames with lenses were ready to take home by the afternoon when we went back for my husband’s appointment. I love that the wait was very limited.

When is the last time you had an eye exam? Is it time to schedule an Eye Exam?

*Eye exams available by independent doctors of optometry at or next to Pearle Vision in most states. Doctors in some states are employed by Pearle Vision.

  1. We love going to Peale Vision. We went in January and had a great experience. I will never go somewhere else now. I love your frames. Thanks for sharing your experience.

  2. I turned 40 this year and I swear I started really feeling it just the past few months. It drags me down to not feel as active as I used to

  3. I hear you on the dwindling eyesight. After turning 40 I started to notice little things .. like having to step closer to read the menu at the coffee shop .. or increasing the font on the iPad. With all of the choices out there for pretty frames .. at least we’ll look chic!

  4. I have been boycotting glasses for quite a while – because I feel like none of them look good on me. I recently got a pair that is just for reading but I think I’m going to need a pair for full time use soon. I will definitely have to check out Pearle Vision, all of the glasses in the video are really cute! It’s also so great that they have such good customer service. Thanks for sharing this article about Pearle Vision.

  5. I am in my 30s and I still have never owned a pair of glasses. I know the older you get the possibility your vision might get more impaired. Speaking into existence that my vision stays intact but if I needed to get some glasses I would like some from Pearl Vision.

  6. I have worn contacts since I was about 13 and my eyes seriously started rejecting them now that I’m in my 30s. I have to wear glasses almost exclusively, and I love big plastic frames. Yours are cute!
