Twin Tips- Thanksgiving… It Gets Easier!

Sharing is caring!

Happy Thanksgiving

In just a few months the twins will be five.

Five.

5.

Cinco.

When they were babies I remember telling myself over and over and over again If I could just survive the first five years!

Well, now it is around the bend and I can say that as they get older things like holidays, Thanksgiving to be exact, have gotten easier.

1) Travel is not such a big deal anymore. I do not have to load up a swing, a bouncy seat, travel high chairs, extra clothes, a huge diaper bag, etc. It no longer takes an hour and a half to load the car with all the just in case stuff.

2) They totally entertain themselves (and have done this now for a couple of years). This means I can enjoy myself and visit with company instead of bouncing from one kid to another during the Thanksgiving festivities. They always look forward to playing with their cousins and it is very much an eagerly anticipated event.

3) They obviously feed themselves. This means we can enjoy dinner while it is hot and everyone else is eating. Oh, such a plus! I can actually relax while I eat.

4) They are starting to make memories they will remember. Thanksgiving is as fun for them as it is for us now. They are learning what to expect, so to speak. They remember playing with cousin Troy last year or eating all that food at Grandma and Grandpa’s.

As bittersweet as it might be to watch them grow so big, become more independent, to see they need Momma less, I want to tell those of you whose twins or multiples may still be little… it gets easier. Just remember this stage too shall pass.

From Indian Star and and Indian Soldier (the names they created for their Thanksgiving Feast at school) Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  1. Wow, 5 is quite an accomplishment. It seems like a billion years from now for me. This was a great and timely post for me. The boys are in a pretty hard stage right now and I keep telling myself it will pass and trying to remind myself to enjoy it while I can.
P.S. Love the pictures. Your kids are so cute!

  2. Sonora- I know… I still can not believe they will be 5 very soon.

The age your boys are was hard for me, but it does pass, I promise. It is hard to consider, but it really is just a stage in your life right now.

Do you guys stay home for the holidays?

  3. Such a sweet post! I don't have twins or multiples, but I understand to some degree. My two middle children are 15 months apart and it was a challenge (still is sometimes!) when they were younger. I think more so because my oldest is now 19 and I've begun to run out of steam. LOL. I'm looking forward to the youngest, who's almost 4, to get "easier." (I have 3, 6, 7 and 19!)
