J is for jellyfish You will need:

J is for jellyfish 1. Paint the jellyfish pattern (make sure it’s printed onto thick paper and not regular typing paper, or the paint will soak through the paper).

NURSERY RHYMES FOR LETTER J:

Do you know the tune for Jack and Jill?  I grew up reciting this rhyme, but I recently learned a melody. Find it on youtube!

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown, and Jill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got and home did trot as fast as he could caper.
He went to bed and bound his head with vinegar and brown paper.

This is a fun rhyme to do while bouncing your toddler on your knee — or your preschooler if your knee can handle it :).

Jelly on a plate,
Jelly on a plate.
Wibble wobble, wibble wobble,
Jelly on a plate.

Be sure to do both verses of this favorite!

Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat no lean.
And so between the both of them
They licked the platter clean.

 Jack ate all the lean,
Joan ate all the fat.
The bone they picked it clean
And gave it to the cat.

BOOKS TO READ FOR LETTER J:

norma jean

Norma Jean, Jumping Bean, by Joanna Cole

This adorable book is about a cheerful kangaroo who jumps wherever she goes — until her constant  jumping frustrates all her friends.  A dejected Norma Jean trudges everywhere until the other animals miss their bouncy friend, and she becomes her old self once again.

peanut-butter-and-jelly-westcott

Peanut Butter and Jelly, by Nadine Bernard Westcott

I love Westcott’s hilarious illustrations for familiar rhymes!  Kids will love the crazy mess as elephants stomp the peanuts to create “peanut butter, peanut butter!”
