Dark Chocolate Granola Apple Mug Cake
We are on a kick finding and creating new mug cake recipes. Ya’ll have to try this one!
These are so simple to make and the individual servings sizes are perfect for after dinner desserts and mid-day snacks. (Make sure you check out all of my microwave mug cake recipes while you’re here!)
This Dark Chocolate Apple Crisp is full of protein. My boys all devoured this! And it is totally customizable depending on the granola flavor you add. (Just when you thought granola was only for yogurt or cereal… it is totally versatile!)
Let me show you how easy this is to make! It is perfect for an afternoon snack, hello homeschool mamas!!
Ingredients:
- 1 peeled, cored and diced apple of your choice (I love this apple corer)
- 1 T butter
- 2 t flour (yes, only 2 teaspoons)
- 2 T brown sugar
- 1/4 c water
- pinch of salt (I used kosher salt)
- 1/2 cup granola, divided in half (I used Nature Valley Dark Chocolate)
- One scoop of your favorite vanilla bean ice cream (I just grabbed a mini container)
Gather up all of your ingredients and a nice size coffee mug. You will also want a whisk and access to a microwave.
Here is a closeup of the granola I used.
Ready to make the mug cake?
Melt the butter for about 15 seconds in your mug in the microwave.
Then add the dry ingredients and the water to the mug. Whisk until well combines.
Toss in the apples . Stir until well combines. Top with half of the granola.
Pop it in the microwave for two to three minutes.
When it is done it will look like this.
Under that layer of granola the flour, brown sugar and apple have all thickened. It is amazing!
Top with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Sprinkle the remaining granola over the ice cream.
Grab a spoon and devour.
This stuff is just amazing! My boys and hubby all loved their own mug.

Hi Crystal,
It seems to be delicious and yummy..
My question is, shall we use strawberries or Raspberries or Blueberries instead of Apple?
Bcoz, my kids like those fruits than Apple.
Thanks for shared this awesome recipe.
Have a blessed days.
