I am so excited that its almost fall!
I enjoy summer, but I really love the fall season. The weather starts to cool down which means we are able to spend more time outside. There are more things to do and more time to spend with family.
One of my favorite things about fall are the abundance of pumpkins! I love to use pumpkins to decorate, to cook, to craft and even for activities for the kids.
This pumpkin hunt is great for kids of all ages and also perfect for the cool fall weather on the way.
The great thing about pumpkin hunting is that you don’t need to do anything special to prepare.
I have a stash of fake pumpkins that I use to decorate that were perfect for hiding around the yard.
I gave each kid a bag and sent them on their way.
The kids ran around the yard stuffing pumpkins in their bags while laughing the whole time.
I think they were excited to play pumpkin hunt because its so similar to hunting for Easter eggs.
After we collected all the pumpkins we sat down and counted them out, using the time to cool down and add in some math.
We played the pumpkin hunt game a few times before heading inside.
Some variations on the classic pumpkin hunt can be:
- Decorating a bag before going to hunt
- Using real pumpkins and coloring them before
- Having the one kid hide the pumpkins for everyone
- Putting a dab of color under the pumpkins and have the kids only find a certain color
- Have a race to see who can find a certain amount of pumpkins the fastest
No matter how you play the pumpkin hunt game its sure to be a fun time together, enjoying the cool weather of fall.
