I love simple treats that the kids can help make. This Valentine Popcorn is just that- a sweet reward for your little ones.
It is perfect for an afternoon snack, serve it at a Valentine party, use it as a treat to fill goodie bags for friends, or make it and watch a sweet Valentine movie, like Gnomeo and Juliet.
This is so easy to make- you’re going to love it. And while you’re here, don’t forget to check out all of my Valentine crafts. All of them are simple to make and many come with free printables which make for perfect gift giving.
Here is how you make it.
You Will Need:
- 1 bag pink candy melts (really, whatever festive color you want is fine)
- 4 cups popcorn (you can buy it already popped or do the microwave bags)
- double boiler
- large ziplock bag or icing bag
- scissors to snip the end of the ziplock bag
- cookie sheet
- parchment paper
Use a double boiler to melt the candy wafers.
Make sure the heat is not too high or the candies will turn into a hard ball of candy.
This is what the candy will look like once it is melted.
Let it cool just a bit (like 1-2 minutes) so it can be poured into a ziplock bag or frosting bag.
Once you pour the melted candy into a bag, snip a hole in the corner of the bag so you can squeeze the candy over the popcorn.
Lay out 4 cups of popcorn on a parchment covered cookie sheet.
Evenly drizzle the melted candy over the popcorn.
Let the candy cool. I popped the cookie sheet in the deep freezer for about 2 minutes and it was good to go.
Break the popcorn apart (it will be one sheet of popcorn once the candy hardens).
Put the popcorn into treat bags and seal them up, or toss it in a bowl and watch a Valentine movie.
We loved it as an afternoon snack.
