The Very Hungry Caterpillar Printables for Preschoolers
One thing that I love doing when I am reading stories to my little kids is to give them book companion worksheets to go with our reading.
These The Very Hungry Caterpillar Printables for Preschoolers are perfect for your young learner.
In case you did not know, this book is written by Eric Carle. We love his books at our house.
Let me show you everything you get in this free printable pack.

This pack is four pages.
There are three different learning activities and each of them work on fine motor skills. Each of these pages are perfect to add to your spring lesson plans.
The first page is a do a dot page. Grab your do a dot markers and have your preschooler find all of the letter C for caterpillar.
This is a great fine motor building activity but also great for letter recognition.
Our youngest is four years old and he loved doing this preschool activity.
In this printable pack you will also find graphing pages.
Graphing is an excellent early math skill.
Let your preschooler count the number of times each item from the story is on this worksheet.
There are strawberries, cucumbers, suns, oranges, leaves, caterpillars, butterflies and apples on the page.
Our little Jack loved counting all of the pictures.
On the lined pages that is included in the pack is where you will color in how many of each item is on the page.

If you want to reuse these pages over and over again, I would laminate them.
The last page in the pack is our line tracing page.
This is excellent for building pencil grip and hand dexterity.
That said, they do not have to use a pencil. Let them use a crayon or marker or simply trace the lines with their fingers.
What is The Very Hungry Caterpillar About?
This is a classic childhood book and it tells the story of a caterpillar as it goes through it’s life-cycle and eats all the things it finds until it finally becomes a butterfly. The book also teaches the days of the week as you follow along with the story.
