You Have a Unique Point of View: Loving Your Authenticity

Sharing is caring!

Our Simple Abundance message today:

‘Take a deep breath and relax. The reassuring news is that you’ve not completely lived up to your potential or you wouldn’t be drawn to this book. You’re still striving, still dreaming, still yearning, and now still doing. I’ve not completely lived up to my full potential or I wouldn’t be writing this book. We’re both on an exhilarating adventure that’s sometimes a little scary. One of the most important milestones we’ll hit along the way is the moment when we finally own our unique point of view and realize how priceless it is. “I’d gone through life believing in the strength and competence of others; never my own,” writer Joan Mills observes. “Now, dazzled, I discovered that my capabilities were real. It was like finding a fortune in the lining of an old coat.”

Today, or as soon as you can, indulge yourself with one of my favorite perk-ups. Get $25 from the bank in $5 notes and place them in the pocket of all your coats and jackets. Now forget about it. The next time you wear a coat and find $5, laugh and let it remind you that each day that you love, honor, and respect your own unique point of view, you’re a step closer to finding a fortune.

Now do one more thing. Start to treat yourself more generously. Begin with $5. Buy one beautiful flower for your desk, enjoy a french pastry with your morning coffee, stop in a fancy salon and get yourself some almond scented shampoo. Just do something out of the ordinary that you normally wouldn’t do that will lift your spirits. “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line,” Lucille Ball advised. “You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” ‘ -Sarah Ban Breathnach, Simple Abundance A Daybook of Comfort and Joy

Could you imagine if we were living to our fullest potential right now? Would you be ok with that? Or would you feel unsettled? Unaccomplished? Resentful? It surely is an interesting thought to ask yourself.

And finding treasures in an old coat. It is always fun to me when we reach that cold winter morning where we finally have to pull out last winters coat. Soon after putting it on, we reach in the pockets to drop something in, and oh, there is my chapstick. And a stick of gum. And oh, a buck or two.

Finding all the little treasures takes you back to one year ago, and what you were doing in your life then.

It is always so interesting to me.

Today I am grateful for:

Crockpots. Thank you for an easy way for me to get dinner on the table for my family. Without you, we would never eat… at home anyway.

Pay at the pump. How in creation did mother’s get gas with a car full of children twenty years ago? There is no way I would be lugging five kids into the ‘inconvenient’ store!

Great big belly laughs from my sweet baby Matthew. Gosh he cracks me up. It makes your day and bring a smile to your face. A child’s love is so unconditional and his laugh will make your heart smile.

Helping hands. I love it when the two oldest boys try so hard to teach and help their twin brothers and they feel so accomplished afterwards. It is so precious to me. And much more pleasant than bickering and fighting. I love to see them making a difference. Likewise, I love when the twins ask me if they can help cook. And even though having two kitchen table chairs in front of the stove is really just a bit too much sometimes, I know we are making memories and they feel like the big boys that are quickly growing up to be.

Bathroom doors that lock…. so I can try to go to the restroom in peace. Try is the keyword. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. But I try. One of these days I am going to learn how to take a nap in there!

Girl, YES to the pay at the pump! I just did it this morning, and was so grateful myself! That did make me laugh though. You're delivery makes me smile 🙂

I realized 2 nights ago that our master bathroom door will lock, but not shut all the way. Seems to be just from the house settling, so my hubby can fix it. But he needs to do so soon! Mama's gotta have 2 minutes of peace and quiet! Well, I'll settle for just peace today.

    Good stuff 🙂
