5 Tips for Dressing Toddlers on a Budget

Sharing is caring!

I have raised a bunch of boys. A houseful to be exact. Well, who am I fooling? We are still knee deep in raising them.

But I have officially conquered the toddler years and I certainly have some tips to share.

We are on a budget. I have shared before that we intentionally live well below our means.

Along the way I have shared some budget savvy tips with you.

tips for dressing toddler on a budgetLet’s face it, toddlers grow fast and are on the move non-stop.

They need comfort and move-ability.

Honestly, we do not want a battle when dressing them. And, this is the prime time to work with them on learning to dress themselves.

Here are my tips for making this process easier.

5 Tips for Dressing Toddlers (on a Budget)

    1. Only buy clothes that are non-restrictive and comfortable. Kids are on the go- moving all the time. Keep fancy clothes to a minimum (ie. holiday’s only) and give your kiddos some freedom while they play. Fancy clothes cost more and often times the care for the clothes can be high maintenance. This will also help them with learning to dress themselves easily. Fancier clothes can have lots of buttons and such. Elastic waist bands rock at this age!

    1. Find things that mix and match well. Some solid color pants and shorts with some patterned cotton tops work great. They can all interchange out easily. This gives you so many options without feeling like they are wearing the same things over and over again.

    1. Cotton, cotton, cotton. It is easy to care for, inexpensive and meets the needs to tip #1.

    1. Don’t spend more on your kids clothes than yours own. They outgrow it so fast! I look for sales and try really hard at this age to spend $6 or less per item when buying new.

    1. Buy articles that work for multiple seasons. How can you simply add a jacket to make this a cooler season outfit, for example.
