Fun on a Rainy Day (or a Sunny Day)
I am one of those mothers that allows life to get too busy. It creeps up and then boom.
There are so many times it feels like my day gets away from me. I wonder where our week has gone. Or where the month has gone.
I have to remember to stop. Slow down. Enjoy the every day things that are around us.
Get out of the house. Go to the park. Do homeschool somewhere else- just a change of scenery.
Does this ever happen to you? Maybe not with schooling, but just the every day? Do you forget to simply enjoy the simplicity of life?
I am so, so guilty!
I am often reminding myself that we can have fun- on a rainy day or a sunny day. Messy faces, dirty shirts… it does not matter!
And these moments right here. These are the ones I often fail to see the beauty in at the moment they happen.
The moments of little ones playing pretend. I want to bottle this boy up and keep him small forever! He is so precious and so innocent.
He is my baby you know. And, boy does he love being the baby, but recently he crawled into my bed and said, “Mom, I was thinking about being a kid.” Now he wants to be my baby kid– his words!
And I am totally fine with that…. most days.
Still I want to stop time. I want to keep all of my boys innocent and little forever.
Always my little baby kids.
I want to protect them from anything that could harm them- even when they are seventy!
But logically I know these days at the park will end.
They will all grow independent.
They will all need me less.
I say so often that I just want to play Candyland and make play dough every day.
Yet, I let the busy creep in again and again.
With this gorgeous Spring weather I am making a commitment.
A commitment to do school work at the park. A commitment to give myself some grace. A commitment to relax and be less busy.
I know I will miss this and I want no regrets. (And I really need a tissue.)
