The Lake
We’ve had a stressful and crazy couple of weeks and really needed and wanted to get away and relax. If relaxing is possible.
My brother James and his wife have a lake house about 2 hours that way.
They invited us to come out and have some fun in the sun. So we took them up on their offer.
We headed out Saturday evening/night with our three youngest in tow. I will spare you the details of only having directions up to this point, which we were instructed to call once we reached, at which point our cell phones had no signal. And add to that, we drove close to 40 miles with the gas light on and no gas station in site, caused me to just about have a panic attack. We finally found a gas station that was closed, but their pumps were on.  In the end, we found the general area of their lake house and my sister-in-law finds me looking in windows of various houses as I attempted to figure out which one was theirs. Crazy!
Sunday morning we cooked breakfast, like good little country girls.
Everyone filled their bellies and then off to the boat we went.
Did IÂ mention we had fun?
We stopped at the Marina for ice.
My children still in amazement.
We made wake.
Lenny tried to water ski.
Keyword- tried.
He finally gave up.
My sister-in-law, Lynn, had to get out there and show him how it is done.
She grew up on the water and kinda put him to shame.
First try was a charm for her.
My brother is a goof ball. He spent most of his time trying to find the cold spots in the water.
Lenny and I went tubing.
Please do not judge me. This might be the most ridiculous picture ever.
But we had so much fun!
In between each stop on the lake, Nick and Luke could not wait for the chance to get back in the water.
They loved it!
Matthew and my little nephew Wyatt fell asleep on the boat.
I guess Matthew wanted to make sure no one used the alligator float?
Wyatt found a nook for sleeping that was perfect and out of the sun.
Soon, we had our fill of the sun and everyone longed for a nap.
Troy and the twins rode on the tube as my brother drove the boat in.
My favorite flip flops…. are no more.
Meet Daisy the Shoe Slayer.
Daisy is still a pup and chewing everything in site.
She ate and broke the strap on my shoes. You know, the super important strap that go in between your toes.
Did I mention these were the only shoes I packed?
My brother fixed them.
Meet my MacGyver flip flops.
Available at a fancy store near you.
Daisy also ate a tube of Matthew’s eczema ointment that is a steroid cream.
She might turn into wonder dog.
Ugh!
Did you have an awesome weekend?

I laughed through this whole story but I found myself laughing out loud to the point I almost peed my pants when I saw your face and Lennys leg hanging off mid flight in the air on that tub! Oh how funny but lots of fun it was!
Lynn, we had such a great time. Thanks for the invite and letting us get out of town with family.
I guess that word should say Tube not tub! Haha
You guys are crazy! It looks like you had an awesome time. 🙂 I love seeing all the little kids together. So much love!
On a sad note, sorry about your flip flops. It was just their time Crystal. Lol.
Nick and Luke look up to Troy so much. He really was their tour guide on the boat.
Matthew and Wyatt are little partners in crime.
And Gracie, well, she is just everyone’s little boss. She is certainly a mother hen. 🙂
Hi Crystal!
Love the story and the pictures! I was wondering if you take your “good” camera on the water or do you have a waterproof camera? It scares me to death to get mine near the water or sand!
Thanks!
Kaye, I did take my good camera on the lake. When it was not in use, I just kept it down in a nook where my lake/pool bag was. The boat had plenty of cover. 🙂
I never got in the water with the camera. All the shots were taken from up in the boat.
Thank you so much for reading!
