Men and Grocery Shopping
I remember when I was a kid my mother hated to send my dad to the grocery store. She would send him after one or two things and he always came home with much, much more.
And it would be things we did not need.
Like junk food and sweets.
Last night Lenny had worked a long day. It was late- like 10:30 at night. (The nature of our business requires long hours and late nights…. air conditioning.) He was finally heading home.
My day had been just as long. The kids were {still} not in bed. I was ready to have a meltdown of my own. But baths were done and bellies were full.
We needed milk and Lenny offered to swing by the store. Usually I do not mind a late night run to the store, I am usually dying for a reason to get out of the house, but I was totally spent.
Now, I understand my mother . As a child I loved all the sweets my dad would bring home from his grocery trip, but as a mom… not so much! I get it.
ALL WE NEEDED WAS MILK! I said that already, right?
I grocery shop and meal plan every single week. The only thing we were out of was MILK!
I swear to you, this is what Lenny came home with:
Strawberry PopTarts
Brown Sugar PopTarts
Blueberry Bagels
Raisin and Cinnamon Bread
Yogurt
Sausage Pancakes on a Stick (oh my!)
Oatmeal Creme Cookies
Chocolate Cupcakes
loaf of bread
2 pks of gum
2 gallons of milk
I’ve always heard that when your body is tired you crave carbs. My research here would confirm that! The kids are loving it!
Final message: don’t send a hungry, tired, man to the store. Even if he offers.

All I have to say is AMEN sister! They mean well but it always ends badly.
So glad you came by the blog again today, I so appreciate the follow! I will be checking back tomorrow, promise!

When I simple ask the boys for ideas for dinners, I get simular results. Thomas always says poptarts, Daniel says Honey bunches of oats, and Danny…. I don't care what you make, until I make it and then it's… I don't want that.
Bless him, that's some serious carb loading!!! Sausage pancakes on a stick sound lovely….yum!!!
Stopping in from SITS Saturday sharefest. Funny story – but at least he remembered the milk! When i send my husband for 3 things he brings home one. What is that all about?
