As you’ve heard me share before, I hate heating up my kitchen in the summertime. We are in Texas and it gets way too hot here to cook much in the oven from June to September.

For some, this may rule out frozen foods. I also avoid cooking in the microwave, so you may think this limits my options for cooking with frozen foods in the summer. But it doesn’t.

For years now we have ordered frozen food a couple of times a month from Schwan’s. There certainly are benefits of frozen foods.

Here are 5 ways we are cooking frozen foods in the summer without heating up our house (much). I am going to show you five ways to cook with frozen food easily. We will cover ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as sides and even dessert!

5 Ways to Cook with Frozen Food

Frozen Bacon– we love, love, love this! It makes a super easy breakfast idea. I just pop it in the oven for 5-8 minutes. While that is baking I boil some eggs on the stove and cut up some fresh fruit.  You can also add the bacon to a sandwich at lunch. Yum!

Salmon– frozen salmon is a great way to get delicious protein into your diet. We order a box from Schwans at least once a month. It cooks in the over super fast- 10-20 minutes depending on how well done you want it. Limited oven time is a must for these hot summer days.

Chicken in the Crockpot I love cooking with chicken in the crockpot. I throw it in there frozen and it comes out perfect!

Veggies as a Side– I love stocking up on frozen veggies. You don;t have to worry about them going bad and I have a fail proof way to cook them on the stove top that is super tasty!

Make Dessert– use frozen fruits to make a cobbler in the crockpot! Never even heat the kitchen up!
