Easy Breakfast Easy Snack

Sharing is caring!

Believe it or not, grapefruit is a very popular snack at our house! One of our nine year old twins loves grapefruit. So does the 13 year old as well as my husband. I was just as shocked as you when I discovered this.

Grapefruit was not something my parents kept in the fridge when I was a little girl and I never thought to buy it for my kids to try until last summer. And boy was it a hit! It makes for a very easy breakfast or snack.

Guess what February is? National Grapefruit Month! And we are celebrating with DOLE Red Grapefruit Sunrise Fruit Bowls.

Grapefruit are high in antioxidants, protect you against inflammation, repairs DNA, helps with insomnia and the list goes on and on.

February is the perfect time of year to give grapefuit a try!

I love these convenient fruit bowls from Dole. They are perfect for on the go.

That juice in each cup- is 100% juice. No added sugars or junk and packaged at the peak-of-ripeness! No GMO’s (SCORE!!) and BPA free packaging. Seriously, what mom would not love this healthy snack for their family?

Eat it before you leave the house for your day, or pop it in your work bag or in the kiddos lunch. Perfect for an after school snack too!

Chat with Dole over on Twitter and follow Dole on Facebook for ideas, promotions, recipes and more! I am following them too!

You know what I love to do? I use one of my crisper drawers in the fridge as a snack drawer. I love to toss things like these grapefruit cups in that drawer.

Then all of my kids, big and small and even my hairy husband, know exactly where to go in the fridge to get a healthy snack.

This is what I have learned over the years. If we buy junk and fill the fridge and pantry with it, then junk is what they will eat.

Buy healthy clean foods and fill the fridge and pantry with it, then healthy is what they will eat!

How do you encourage your kiddos to try new things like grapefuit?

  1. Those little cups make great snacks. My son usually grabs the peaches cups. I think my Hubby is the only one who likes grapefruit. Maybe I should surprise him with some of these grapefruit cups. I didn’t know they had them in cups.

    1. Devon- I was literally shocked to find out tow of our boys love grapefruit. I brought one home from the farmers market last year. One of my twins devoured it. Then the 13 year old wanted one, so I started buying them. My husband loves them too. These cups are perfect for us. I love the convenience of them and I can just toss them in the snack drawer in the fridge (one of the crispers) and we are good to go!

  2. I haven’t had grapefruit in so long and I don’t even think I knew that Dole made those little cups with it in them! We’ve had the other fruit but not that! Definitely picking some up at the store this weekend!

    1. I too had no idea you could get the grapefruit in a cup until recently!! Makes it very handy!!

  3. I normally stray away from grapefruit because I find it a little too bitter, but I should give it another go because these look amazing!

  4. I’ve never tried grapefruit but now that I don’t have to dig them out of the rind {I’m low maintenance like that} I think I might have to give these babies a try. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oh my goodness! I love grapefruit. And I bet if I packed these in the boys’ lunchboxes they would love them too. Sneaky Mama! 🙂

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. Grapefruit is not my favorite but I love the portability of these snack cups. I have to add sugar to my grapefruit so it’s no longer healthy. I know my mom always ate hers with salt; strange.

    Beautiful photos!

    1. With salt? I don’t know that I’ve ever known anyone to do that. Wonder how that is….

  7. I LOVE grapefruit but it is so messy! I’ve tried to buy it in packages but it’s never quite the same as fresh. It’s good to know that kids can love a yummy fruit 🙂
