7 Simple Ways To Revamp Your Laundry Room

Sharing is caring!

Do you ever have look at the endless piles of laundry in your house and wonder when it will end? I mean seriously I feel so accomplished when my laundry is done and the hamper is empty. It is as if I have solved some worldly problem by providing clothes for the needy children in my house.

I never thought as a mom of 3 boys that the laundry would be what it is. I figured boys would be easy. They are dirty and smelly and don’t mind stains so it is not as if we have a runway of attire to model day in and day out.

I was wrong. Oh so wrong!

Laundry consumes my life. I know all of you can relate. It is a struggle and once the hamper is empty and everything is washed that feeling of accomplishment is quickly overshadowed by the next load that accumulated within the past 30 seconds. Why does that happen.

As a mom the laundry room is such a central element of function to the house besides the kitchen. We spend a lot of time in there. Who wouldn’t want their laundry room to be picturesque and orderly? I know I do! That said, I also need for any makeover to be simple, budget friendly and practical!

7 Simple Ways To Makeover Your Laundry Room

1. Paint it! A quick and easy paint job of your choice as an accent wall or just freshen up the whole room. You would be surprised at what a little paint can do!

2. Storage is a must have. Rather than worry about accents you can liven up your laundry room with the inexpensive perks of storage baskets. Everyone needs storage baskets even if you are just using them for laundry!

3. Consider more shelving. Shelving really makes a difference for storage options.  This can be added for very minimal costs and really easy. Choose something that will hold the things you need to clear up space and clutter.

4. Hanging some attractive hooks for holding the ironing board, broom, or mop make a hige difference in decorative features for super cheap!

5. Consider a lost sock clothes line, bucket, or jar. There is a conspiracy surrounding lost socks I know it! Creating a place for those who have lost mates will make it easier to pair them back up!

6. Build a laundry sorting system that fits your needs. Laundry can be conquered in no time if it is already sorted. A basket system with labels for laundry colors are a perfect way to stay organized and keep your laundry contained.

7. Sometimes the efforts of your laundry room are exhausted because of your appliances! Check into something that fits your budget and will get the job done all in one.

  2. These are some great tips to be used when you are trying to re-vamp the laundry room. I know I need to add some shelves and some more hanging hooks in the room.

  3. I love our little laundry room because it has shelving above the washer and dryer and along the sides of the room. It helps keep things orderly and I have instant access to what I need. I have never thought about painting it but that would be a fun way to brighten it up and since we enter it when we come thru the garage to enter the house, it would be prettier to look at. Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. This looks awesome! I wish I just had a laundry room in general! I still have to go to the laundromat. Which is fine by me because I spend less then $20 a month on laundry but still. It would be so much easier to go down stairs then around the block!

I do love the look of your new laundry room! The new washer and dryer are beautiful! I have to say… I am a bit jealous! =D hehe. I have a thing for home gadgets. =P

  5. I love the idea of giving my laundry room a makeover. I have a nook/space not a room, so I’ll have to improvise. Thank you for sharing.

  6. I also spend a lot of time in the laundry room. It is amazing what a little change can do to make the time in there more enjoyable. We also recently upgraded our washer and dryer and it made a huge difference in the time spent doing laundry.

  7. My laundry room is a mess. So it’s posts like yours that can save me from this rut, haha! Thank you so much for these tips. They will really help me out a lot!

  8. We did remodel our laundry room/pantry – didn’t get the laundry sorting system – or the really cool washer and dryer featured here – how amazing!!

  9. Really great tips!! I recently did a bit of a makeover to my laundry room and even though laundry can be a chore making the room more pleasant makes the task a bit more pleasant too…

  10. These are some really great tips! Shelving is imperative…you always need a good place for your detergents, laundry bags and other related things. I also love the idea of a special spot for those missing socks. Sometimes I’ll eventually find the missing one but then can’t remember where I put the first one…LOL!

  11. Hi! I found you through the #SHINE100 blog hop. These are great tips! A new washer and dryer have been on my wish list for a long time. For now I’m just making do, but my husband built me a beautiful poplar wood shelf for my laundry room that has made a HUGE difference!

  12. Great tips here! I feel like I am a lucky gal because my laundry room came with tons or cabinets and counter space, but I still needed to add some different things in for organization. I use chalkboard labels on the wall to keep my dirty piles organized. The “jeans” basket goes under the label that says “jeans”…pretty simple. I also use a decorative milk jug for single socks. If a sock has been single for too long then it becomes a cleaning rag.

  13. Great tips! I love the lost sock jar idea! Thanks for sharing with us at Throwback Thursday!

    Mollie
