I love slow cooker green bean casserole and it is perfect for holiday cooking because it frees up your oven space for other baking! To be able to make it in the crockpot makes it so flexible, especially during the holidays.
This recipe uses cut green beans, which you can do fresh or frozen. Personally, I use french frozen green beans.
This is my favorite slow cooker to use. It has a programmable timer on it, so once done it pops over to warm automatically while you wait for the rest of the meal to finish cooking. Even if it finished before everything else, it will stay warm in the crockpot without using a lot of electricity.
Ready for the recipe? First gather up your ingredients. I love that this is a cover and cook side dish recipe that requires no baby sitting! It is super easy.
Ingredients:
- 18 oz frozen green beans (fresh green beans are fine too!)
- 1 (10 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 1/2 c french fried onions
- 3/4 c milk
- fresh cracked pepper, to taste
Take all of the ingredients, except only half of the friend french onions, and mix them together.
For this recipe I used my 6 qt oval crockpot. This is the slow cooker I use most often and it is certainly one of my favorite.
You could also use a 4 qt slow cooker as long as it is not more than 3/4 of the way full, otherwise it will take much longer to cook.
In the 6 qt crockpot, cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
It will look like them when it is done:
Once the casserole is done, add the remaining french fried onions to the top.
Spread the onions out evenly.
Pop the lid back on and leave it on warm until the rest of dinner is done.
Twenty minutes is good, even longer is just as well.
You can even top with some parmesan cheese too if you want. So good!!
It’s ready to serve.
Plate it up with your favorite protein and dinner is done.
This green bean casserole recipe has been my favorite for over a decade!
Perfect for any holiday!
