Christmas Cards 101

Sharing is caring!

Last year we had the most precious Christmas Cards made with our family pictures. They turned out really great.

Matthew was still just crawling, the twins were dressed in matching corduroy button up tops and I even forced convinced Garrett and Anthony to wear duplicate red sweaters.

Here are the cards:

Have I mentioned I suck at deadlines? They never got mailed. The stack still sits here.
When Christmas passed I shrugged and thought I’ll just mail them before New Years. When New Years passed I thought it would be clever to send them in July… you know, Christmas in July.
Now we have arrived at a new Christmas year and we have a new Christmas card with older sweeter faces (and the corduroy tops that I bought big last year still fit the twins this year).
I literally just ordered the Christmas cards online yesterday!
Deadlines are evil. But Shutterfly is amazing. I already received an email that the cards are printed and being shipped to my house. Seriously!
And my cousin Jackie, from Carpenter Photography, did an amazing job capturing the sweetness in all of the kids’ faces.
But here is the thing. Since I have failed miserably at mailing out Christmas cards for the last five years, not to be confused with the exact number of Christmas’ celebrated since our precious twins were born, we do not receive many Christmas cards from family and friends anymore. We’ve been dropped from their lists. So far, five have come in the mail this year. Five.
Maybe my friends and family suck at deadlines too?
What is your Christmas card protocol? Do you keep up with who sends you a card and do you always send them one as well? Do you have a list you stick to every year? Do you drop Christmas card unworthy receivers, like me,  from your list? I would love to know.
Merry Christmas from the Griswold’s!

  1. I don't think it's you. We have sent out card for the past 4 years (including this one) and have only received 2 this year. We sent them to all the family and got 2 back 🙁 We love to show off our girls, and I got the cards on a good deal, but still it's discouraging. I think everyone is cutting back this year. It's sad to see that that is something that is taken for granted. Maybe next year we will only send out a handfull of cards.

  2. Thanks Holly. I am glad to know I'm not the only one getting few cards this year in my mailbox.

Maybe you're right and it is just a sign of the times?

  3. My family still sends cards so I have about a dozen on the mantle.

I got mine out last week, but some years I've been known to send New Year's cards!

    Your family is gorgeous!
