Hey Cancer, You Lose!

Sharing is caring!

Breast cancer is a scary disease that many women and men suffer from every day. Have you lost someone, struggled with, or had someone close to you experience the devastation of breast cancer? Our family has experienced the heartbreak of a breast cancer diagnosis.

Early in 2014 we received some dreaded news. My husband’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Our family was devastated.

Confusing doctor appointments. A mastectomy. Months of chemo. Thirty plus radiation treatments. Hair loss. Tears. Pain. Shingles.

She is in full remission now, praise God!

Her hair has returned, so has her strength. She witnessed three of my boys being baptized Easter Sunday!

Cancer you lose! WE win!

Do you ever wish you could give back or provide relief and support for those who have suffered so much? With the Susan G. Komen 3-Day you can do something huge! The Komen 3-Day is such an excellent network of people getting together to raise the most money, make the biggest impact, and experience a huge challenge.

The Susan G. Komen is the world’s largest cancer organization with more funding for breast cancer research than any other nonprofit organization. The organization was founded by Nancy G. Brinker for her sister Susan G. Komen that she would fight to end the disease that claimed Susan’s life. Since the founding in 1982, the organization has funded more than $847 million in research and $1.8 billion in funding. It is truly amazing that so many hands and hearts have connected to help those in need and find answers to so many unanswered questions.

Do you ever wonder what the Susan G. Komen 3-Day is all about? It is truly an amazing and support connection of people, families, friends, and perfect strangers who gather for a greater cause. The walk itself is no easy matter. Every day for 3 days consists of a travel of 20 miles. It may seem like a lot of ground to cover but 20 miles a day for 3 days is the greatest distance you can go in the fight against breast cancer and the biggest impact you can make for someone close to you or even someone you don’t that has battled breast cancer. Each participant raises at least $2300 to go towards cure efforts, but the experience is far greater. The events of the Susan G. Komen aide in educating people about the risks and preventative measures of breast cancer, continued research, and significant outreach programs.
