Already thinking about holiday shopping?
Barely.
I know- it is scary.
Times are hard for many.
Christmas is just over 2 months aways.
Let me restate that. Christmas is around the corner… when you are buying for 14,000 kids.
We get the paper every Sunday.
I have started clipping coupons (although they never make it into my purse when I go to the store… go figure… I promise to improve).
One of my favorite things to do when I get the paper is locate the Ulta ad to see if they have a coupon this week and if my shampoo is on sale. Rusk products on sale and a good coupon make for a wonderful start to my Sunday.
Then, I locate the Walmart and Target ads and compare.
We all know I am a Target girl, this I have made clear.
But Walmart, to quote my friend Jaymie, has ‘got it going on’.
Deals so awesome that I might just have to put my big girl panties on and deal with the out of control, screaming, unsupervised children which Walmart attracts. Oh wait, those are my kids…. hum.
Well, if that is the case, here are some current deals I am finding.
Walmart has made 100 toys available for $10.00 through the holidays.
This list of toys include brands like Tonka, Barbie, Hot Wheels, LEGO and My Little Pony just to name a few.
Again, this is through the holidays.
Target must compete. They have reached a price point in this week’s local ad that is a few bucks cheaper at $8 and then another page of toys available for $15 and $20.
And don’t forget, Target has an awesome $1 Spot at the front of the store which is perfect for stocking stuffers.
Currently most of the items are Halloween related (which allowed me to make cute little Halloween-y Buckets full o fun items for each of my kids as a nice little just because treat. (I just bought a few items each time I made a trip to Target so that it would not affect my budget or shopping bill all at once.) It is all hidden in my closet until we get closer to Halloween.
Here is a cute pic of the baskets… just an idea.
Garrett and Anthony’s buckets have pumpkin seed growing kits, skull and other festive pencils (what school age child does not love and need pencils?), Pez dispensers, Jones’ Werewolf Soda (4pk for $3.99), and more.
For Nick and Luke their buckets have cool cups that were on sale back in the Halloween department, $1 spot jungle animals, Pez dispensers, $1 spot pumpkin bubbles, werewolf soda, and more.
And Baby Matthew’s… his just has a $1 Spot ghostly little shirt and candy corn socks. I will likely get him some little wheat baby teething biscuits and a small’ish toy of some sort and add to it. I could not leave him out.
Ok… now back to more hot deals.
Toys R Us is running some awesome promotions. For the last few weeks, and again in this weeks sale ad, when you buy two Fisher Price toys you get the third one FREE.
This includes:
Imaginext
Grow-to-Pro
Laugh and Learn
Little People
Geo trax
Preciuos Places
TRIO
Also, they have 50% off ANY Wii game. And, free $10 gift card when you purchase an Apple ipod 5th generation.
True Hero and Fast Lane Toys buy one get one half off. Also, a $15 gift card with the purchase of $40 or more pink ticket Barbie items. Given all the boys that I have, Barbie and i have not spoken since the 80’s… so I am not sure what a pink ticket Barbie is, but I am sure they can help you at the store.
And what my kids love… SPONGEBOB!!! Free $10 gift card with the purchase of $40 or more Spongebob stuff. There are too many Spongebob deals to name… games, Legos, DVD’s etc are on Spongebob and all on sale and count towards your $40 purchase.
Up to 70% off Family Favorite Games like Scene It?, Pictonary and Mall Madness just to name a few. These games are only $9.98. And they have free travel size Sorry!, Perfection or Hippos, when you purchase the regular size game. ***Great for long car trips!***
Also, free 80 piece Mega Blocks with the purchase of any Mega Blocks that is $50 or more.
There you have it my friend. These are the things I would share with my girlfriends and now I share with my blogger world.
Have fun and purchase a few things each week and stash them away in your closet. Or, be like Lenny and say hum… if the deals are this good now, imagine the deals we can get two days before Christmas as we scurry through 12 stores sorting through piles of junk and people to round up toys to put under the tree!
Either way, may the force be with you!

You are so creative! I live in WalMart country, so I'm always in the store:) I really like Target as well, but they do tend to be more expensive than WM for most things. I wanted to thank you for posting to Crock Pot Wednesday and to let you know that Mister Linky is up for this week's event. There's a giveaway going on:)
