The Creativity of a Child

Sharing is caring!

My sweet Nicky. A creative little soul he is indeed. I try so hard to always foster the strengths of our children and never crush their spirit.

Like I’ve shared before, he is a pretty quiet child, a silent bomb that sometimes goes off. He internalized it all and analyzes everything. And sometimes he feels it is extremely important to tell you what is on his mind. Like, say you’re at Target and he wants to urgently announce to you that his butt no longer itches in a suddenly silent store. That was fun! (((insert sarcasm)))

He is literal and very much an engineer. Give him a couple of taco shells and all the toppings and encourage him to build his own taco, and he will build a standing taco tower. His attention to detail amazes me.

He has learned to spell his name and leaves evidence of this all over the house leaving it neatly written on the edge of the counter top or his bedroom wall.

And look, it appears he wrote his name in pencil before he used the marker…. how nice is that?

His twin brother asked for a no girls allowed sign and Nicky delivered. Right on the hallway door! With a red marker no less!

No Girls Allowed!

Look at the detail. The lips, the hair, the eyelashes. I could not possibly spank him. But I must say I am over joyed that according to this sign I am no longer allowed on that side of the house which mean no more laundry duty and who will clean their room? 🙂

Nicky always delivers. Always. If he finds some scotch tape his imagination dances. Batman is suspended in air….

 I shall escape.

… as he reenacts every episode he’s ever watched creating his own frozen friend for Batman to rescue.

Help, Batman!

And these are the things I know I will miss once they grow older and mommy is not so cool. The twins are turning five in a handful of weeks. I am so not ready for this.

I'm certain I will find my daughter's name all over my house before I know it. I remember once my sister carved her name into my mom's CAR bumper. Oh ya…

  2. Ha! So cute! I have two boys- 2 & 6. It's always fun, right?? I like how you can't go to his room for the laundry anymore. I wish my sons would draw that picture on their door…

  3. very creative and cute! I love the no girls allowed sign. Mister Clean Magic Eraser is my friend. My son once smuggled mac and cheese in his room ( I still don't know how he got it past me) and made a mural on his wall with cheese. Just last fall, my daughter found my bright red lipstick and "colored" my vanity table, the bench to it, my bedspread, the wall and my WHITE Mac laptop that was sitting on the trunk at the end of my bed.
