Eating Out While on a Diet and Week 3 Results

Sharing is caring!

Is eating out while on a diet considered cheating? Do you give yourself a free day here and there? Is that allowed?

I do not pencil in free days or cheat days or eat out days, but sometimes life happens. Like when most of your household is sick and you find yourself taking care of others more than you remember to take care of yourself. So, you swing into Subway and grab a lean sandwich for yourself and everyone else for lunch. Doctor appointments and pharmacy visits just have your whole week all wack-a-doo. And time for working out (even in the living room)? Forget about it!

With Nutrisystem you are given a small, carry along, on-the-go meal planner. It is the perfect size for your purse and gives you a quick glance at what each meal should look like as well as your produce, protein and dairy choices. This is very nifty to have when grocery shopping.

What else will you find in this book? A dining out guide. Yes, dining out happens. While the best results are going to come from sticking to your Nutrisystem foods, they understand that life happens. Your dining out options are broken up into food genres: American, Chinese, fast food, Italian, Mexican, etc. For each of these there is a list of yes food and no food. Let me give you a peak at my favorite food type- Mexican food.

Yes:
gazpacho, chili con carne, black bean soup
salsa (you can use it for salad dressing)
chicken or beef enchiladas, burritos, soft tacos, fajitas
black beans
shredded spicy beef and chicken
covered with enchilada sauce
grilled, marinated, simmered
wrapped in a corn tortilla

No:
topped with sour cream, guacamole, or black olives
covered with shredded cheese
served in fried tortilla shell
chorizo
layered with refried beans
chips and salsa
nachos, fried items, melted cheese and refried beans
chili con queso, guacamole and sour cream
Monterey Jack cheese, fried tortilla shells
chimichangas, flautas, quesadillas

Tips:
hold the sour cream, guacamole, refried beans
hold the grated cheese
extra salsa on the side
salad without the fried shell
an order of soft tortillas on the side

I get it. No sour cream, cheese and guacamole. 🙁

Really, just to know there are options and to have someone set these boundaries for me, takes all the guess work out of it.

With all of that said, I did lose weight during week 3, giving me a total weight loss of 10 pounds!

Does keeping up with dieting get a little crazy for you when you’re on the go? Nutrisystem has an iphone application for that. This application gives you instant access to your meal planner electronically, allows you to keep up with how much water you’re drinking and keep an exercise journal- just to name a few.

Would you find an application like this helpful when on a diet? What about eating out when dieting- do you do it? I would love to hear your take on it!
