Four Things I Must Share NOW!
Started off as three things and in the mist of writing this post it quickly became four.
For starters, the twins are being themselves. There is only a handful of days left in summer vacation. Anthony left this morning to spend a few days at Grandma and Grandpa’s in San Antonio before back to school. Garrett is back visiting his dad for a few days before summer is over. So, this leaves just me, the twins and Matthew during the day.
These will make you smile! These are the four things I must share with you now.
1) Let it just be known that if I were going to be stranded on a deserted island for any period of time and could plan in advance and could only take two people with me (stupid, I know)… I think my best choice would be the twins. Why? They are two of the most innovative, resourceful, determined, relentless, children I know. I walk into my bedroom earlier today and they are both standing on my bed. Now, I know who started it… Luke. This is so his thing. But Nick is there participating as well. Luke is usually the muscle and Nick is usually the mind behind every great plan they have. They have scrunched up my sheets, blankets and pillows on my bed making a platform so that as they jump really high, it increases Luke’s chances of reaching the pulldown hanging thing from the ceiling fan which controls the lights. Brilliant, I know. He got the lights on might I add. Made me smile, but they did get in trouble.
2) Then, as I am preparing this blog entry, Nick and Luke start fighting in the living room. I go in there to find that our less than a month old flat screen tv now has five beautiful stickers on the screen. They came off easily, but I ask them who did it. Luke says Nick and Nick says Luke. Typical. I put them in time out until they can tell the truth- who did it? A few minutes pass, I tell them to come to me and I ask them again, who did it. Luke says Nick and Nick says Luke… back to time out until you can tell the truth. This repeats a few times. Finally, a few more minutes pass and I tell them to come here and ask them the million dollar question one more time. They had clearly had enough time out. Their plea was guilty. Luke says he did it all and Nick says he did it all. Are you laughing yet? I am! Keep it in perspective, right?
3) I do not get to watch much tv, especially during the day, it is always on children programming. But, today I was in my room nursing a baby to sleep when Oprah was on. How often does that happen, so I watch. Did not get to watch the entire show, but I do know the show was about childhood obesity, food in the schools and healthy eating. Well, they featured a book that was fantastic. There are many days I find myself at a loss when I thought I was feeding my kids healthy meals and healthy snacks only to find the obvious was not so obvious. You have got to check this book out! It is called Eat This Not That For Kids. Those who know me, know if there is a topic I need help with, I buy a book. Sold! These are the things that make my day!
4) And finally, when getting on the computer to quickly check my email, there was a exert on MSN about someone who tracked their baby’s growth for a year. Watch this. It will make your day and totally add a smile to your face. Mommas, it will bring a tear to your eye! It makes your heart dance. I wish I had thought of this myself! There is sweet music to it- that is the biggest tear jerker. Turn your volume up and watch as we celebrate Matthew turning 21 weeks today!
