Why This Mom Has Done Stitch Fix Since 2015

Sharing is caring!

I am a busy mama with six kids (all boys) still at home.

I homeschool.

I help my husband run a family business from home.

I run my own business from home.

I co-own another online business.

I am pulled in many different directions, for sure!

I am always looking to streamline as many things as possible in my life.

If you’ve wondered about online clothes shopping for moms and are looking for Stitch Fix reviews to help you make up your mind, you’ve come to the right place.

I have had a personal stylist from Stitch Fix since 2015 and I’ve received many boxes of clothes from them.

If you want some insider tips on how to get the perfect Fix, or just want to know how it works before you spend your money on a Fix, I am here to help!

Here is how I have received 36 styled boxes and counting. Can you tell I love Stitch Fix?

Leave a Note for Your Stylist

Each month I take advantage of the option to send a note to my stylist.

I get an email that tells me my Fix is about to be assembled and if I have a note I want to share I can do so.

There is a place in the system where you leave the note for them.

I will tell them about items I’ve seen that I’ve wanted to try, bring specific attention to things I’ve pinned, let them know if I have a special event coming up like a wedding, a conference, etc.

I use the note section to also share things with my stylist like, I got a new pair of leopard Tieks and I want more outfits to go with this specific color combination, or I want more tops that will go with the white pants I kept in December 2018, etc.

Remember, as long as you keep at least one item in your box you get your $20 styling fee credited back to you. So worth it!

Create an Honest Style Profile

You do this before you get your first Fix. They give you images of different outfits and you let them know if you like them. This helps them decide if you prefer more boho, modern or classic styles, etc.

You also identify your price preferences for items. While I might pay $90 for a great pair of jeans, I will not spend that on a top. I get to set all of those limitations in my preference area so they send me clothes that meet my budget.

Don’t like sleeveless tops? Hate denim? Let them know this and anything else you don’t wear in your profile.

Create a Stitch Fix Pinterest Board

It is smart to create a Pinterest Board for your Stitch Fix loves and keep it current.

  1. Create a Pinterest board and use it to pin the things you love that show your style or specific Stitch Fix clothes.
  2. Ensure that you share the link to this board in your Pinterest profile. AS long as you’ve done this your stylist will check it before creating your box.
  3. When I get the reminder to send a note to my stylist, I go to Pinterest immediately and search for new and current items to pin to my board.
  4. I will search by month, February 2019 Stitch Fix, for example, and pin things I like that are current for that month. In other words, things other ppl are getting in their February boxes that I also like.
  5. I will also search for that season, Spring Stitch Fix 2019, for example.
  6. I will do one more search for Stitch Fix Trending, and see if there is anything trending that I want to pin.
  7. If there is a certain brand I love, like 41 Hawthorn, I will search for that brand and add the word Stitch Fix and see if there is anything new I want to pin.

Here is my Stitch Fix Pinterest Board in case you want to check it out.

Keep the Same Stylist as Long as You are Happy

I literally keep the same stylist as long as they work with SF and as long as I am happy. I have kept the same stylist for a year at a time, only changing if they leave the company.

When you go through the check out process and it prompts you to schedule your next fix, you can choose the option to keep or change your stylist.

Don’t fix what is not broken.

Honestly, I feel like they get to know you and that is super beneficial to getting Fix’s that are on point!

After getting 36 Stitch Fix boxes I just can’t state this enough.

That said, if you keep getting Fix’s that are totally off point and you feel like they are not listening to you, request to switch.

Change Your Subscription As Needed

I have gone through seasons of getting a fix every month, I have done every other month, I have done seasonally and I have paused it.

Do what works for you.

If you are in the mist of a big life change, pause it. And don’t feel bad about it.

If you have lost of bunch of weight and want to get some great new staples, go for the every 2 weeks option, if that works for your budget.

Give Feedback at Checkout

This is very helpful. When I return something I don’t just send it back. I give very specific notes on why I am not keeping it- too big in the legs and too tight in the waist, or too similar to something else you’ve already sent, or I just bought a pair of $90 this season I can’t spend that on another pair of shoes right now, but thank you!

I am very honest. I have nothing to hide. I fluctuate between a size 14 and 16 in pants. I have had a lot of kids. My stomach is my trouble spot. I want flowy tops, pants that I can breathe in but still look beautiful.

February 2019 Stitch Fix

Here is what I got in my February 2019 Stitch Fix. If you love these items search for them online and pin them to your Stitch Fix Pinterest board for your stylist:

  • Mavi Colette Skinny Jean  in Indigo (Item ID 89446864)
  • DV8 Pixie Perforated Bootie in Beige  (Item ID 9036113)
  • 41 Hawthorn Melisa Tie Sleeve Detail Blouse in Navy  (Item ID 92334373)
  • Pale Sky Danlaur Crochet Detail Top in Black  (Item ID 92368947)
  • Collective Concepts Aimee Tie Detail in Pink (Item ID 92387458)

Stitch Fix UnBoxing February 2019

Here is my unboxing and me trying on all the items from my box.

I kept the bird top (41 Hawthorn Melisa) and the black crocheted top (Pale Sky Danlaur).

I was not so sure about the black crocheted top when I first saw it, but I absolutely love it! It will be perfect for year round with the three-quarter sleeves and think material. It is warm in Texas 75% of the year.

Everything else I sent back because I am at a place where I am super picky after four years of boxes. I am very intentional in what I keep at this point.

Nonetheless, I do think a box with 2 items that I am keeping is a win! Excited for my next box!

  1. I’ve been contemplating doing this myself as I do not have time to shop for myself but at the same time I worry that I’ll get a bunch of stuff I don’t like. It’s definitely something I am thinking about doing though. Your unboxing has really helped me to see what I can expect and your tips have helped me to figure out how I can better work with the stylist. Thanks for linking this post with us at #OMHGWW!
