Letting Go of Limiting Illusions

Sharing is caring!

‘For some of us the thought of trusting a power outside ourselves to help make our dreams come true is defiantly a threatening concept, especially if we’re used to being in control- or rather, used to the illusion of being in control.

Many more of us go through life trapped by another illusion: that an uncaring, capricious fate determines our destiny. Shellshocked from some of the acutely miserable things that life throws our way, we are deeply afraid to believe that a loving, gracious Creative Force supports our endeavours. We are afraid to trust the same Spirit that created the Universe probably knows how to help us write the grant, get the promotion, go back to school, start our own business, find the new job. Like mirrors in the carnival fun house that distort appearances, what we see with our eyes is not real. We buy in to the illusion that external events possess the ultimate power to deny our dreams.

And we wonder why we’re so unhappy?

Let go of limiting illusions that have held you back from knowing that just to be alive is a grand thing. Suspend disbelief. Experiment with a loving, supportive Universe that embraces even skeptics. Today, be willing to believe that a companion Spirit is leading you every step of the way, and knows the next step.’ Sarah Ban Breathnach, Simple Abundance A Daybook of Comfort and Joy

We must remember, God is always in control- always.

Lenny always reminds me that God knew our path before we ever knew. He knows what choices we will make, he sees the journey long before we do.

So, as we make it from one meltdown to the next, conquer the tantrums, clean up the messes and slowly pull our hair out one stand at a time as two toddlers use the Q-tips to make shapes on the living room floor (ugh!), let go, and remember, with God, all things are possible. And he knew this path long before we did.

I just wish He would have warned me!

Maybe He did, but I just was not listening?

‘I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.’- Agatha Christie

  1. Something close to what I've been pondering this week….God doesn't give us more than we can handle….right? Jer 29:11. Hard to keep that in mind with little kids, postpardem depression and work…But it keeps me going. thanks for the great post!!

  2. Awe Tara, thank you!

I am so glad it makes sense to someone other than me. I really need this journey right now in my life.

Mommyhood aint for sissys- that's for sure.
