Make Eating More Fruits and Veggies Easy
Sometimes it is hard to get all of those fruits and veggies in every single day. Especially, when we can easily grab for the prepackaged snacks and such. Here is something I do, and you’ve likely seen this tip on my weekly meal plans before.
Grab a veggie and/or fruit tray on your next grocery trip.
Start small, you don’t have to buy the largest one.
See how long it lasts.
See if your kids ‘eat it all gone’ before it goes bad.
Did they prefer the veggie tray or the fruit tray?
It makes for easy sides with lunch. If you have school age kids, grab a little of this and a little of that and send it in a ziplock bag in their lunch box. For little kids who are still at home during the day, it makes for a super easy side to just grab from the fridge and place the tray on the table as you serve lunch. They can grab as they want. It couples well with everything you are already making for lunch.
And the same advantages apply for dinner time. Set your fruit or veggie tray in the middle of the table and let the kids grab what they want to go with that yummy crockpot dinner you’ve prepared.
Don’t forget it works well as an after school snack, too. Just grab it from the fridge and set it on the table.
Healthy, fresh and non-processed.
And even better, my local Kroger marks them down all the time as they approach their expiration date. I scored one this afternoon (as I quickly ran in for paper towels and milk) for $2.49! (It even came with a super yummy organic dip!)
Don’t want to spend money on a pre-made tray? Make your own and have it on hand in the fridge and all the same advantages apply!
Give it a try!
Happy Saturday Share Fest! Great post and important too. After watching the Jamie Oliver Food Revolution you realize what our kids are consuming. We need to start focusing on organic natural products and not just for food but also all our products!
Ahhhhh Krogers! My favorite shop for markdowns. Not only did you get a great price, you got a great price on organics! Awesome deal!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy Saturday SITS Sharefest to you too! What a great blog! Happy to have found you!
