How To Throw an Olympic Birthday Party
The Olympics this year were so much fun for our kids. They loved watching all of the different competitions and hearing the names. Watching the countries, seeing the different participants and flags and of course the many, many victories for all was exciting too.
This year they were held in Rio, as you may remember. The sites and sounds of Brazil were also an inspiration for putting this all together. On top of that the idea was great!
Are you pondering the thought of throwing an Olympic birthday party for one of your kiddos? Just see all the fun we had and check out these tips for having an amazing Olympics party!
1. Create a cupcake station with the arrangement to display the Olympic rings. We decorated them with all kinds of toppings and of course the kids loved them!
Even the older kids were involved in the decorating! Why not? There was candy involved!
Who can pass up a cupcake?
The determination of getting the cupcake to their liking was really enjoyable to watch.
Such a masterpiece!
This part of the party was so exciting that of course we had to acknowledge the Olympic Torch too.
2. Keep LOTS of Bounty Paper Towels on hand! With all of these kids and cupcakes we were destined to have messes! So we got them cleaned up quick with Bounty!
3. Our Olympic celebration was not complete without some Brazilian recipes. Â So if you are hosting an Olympic celebration don’t forget to whip up something soulful that goes along with the theme.
4. No party is complete without some festive goodie bags. Fortunately Bounty sent us everything we needed for fun in the hot sun! Our goodie bags were packed with some cool sunglasses, water, and even some earbuds! The kids absolutely loved these. Â You could replicate the same idea grabbing things on Amazon!
Our Olympic party of course endured the Texas heat. But these Bounty patriotic sunglasses were great for some shade!
5. Games are a must! These kids had so much fun competing in games that are similar to those in the Olympics this year. With a little creativity we created some stations perfect for some friendly competition!
A javelin throw made from pool noodles and tape.
We even set it up to represent the Olympic rings.
There are so many running competitions in the Olympics so these mini hurdles were a hit for the kids.
And the adults got in on the running too!
The excitement of the Judo mat was amazing. The skill of these kids made the whole thing spectacular!
Balance beams at their best. Of course shades and all!
We had to do a relay race. Instead of batons we used Bounty Paper Towels!
All ages and sizes. They made incredible teams!
Of course no race is complete without a small victory for Bounty and this guy!
6. Don’t forget to have an area for pictures! The kids got to partake in the picture taking too! Our cardboard cutout of Alyson Felix went perfectly and the kids thought it was a great place for pictures! Bounty partnered with Alyson Felix this year. These guys were her sidekicks! Set up a picture taking station too using one of these automatic printing cameras. The kids loved it!
This guy was determined to show his strength and excitement for the Olympics! Plus keeping it strong representing Bounty too! These drawstring backpacks are perfect for party favors!
To top off the fun tug of war was in play. Split into two teams these kids showed their strength!
7. The Olympics always honor the achievements of the competitors. Don’t forget to reward the contestants of your party with something special!
So we had some sweet medals to celebrate victory with.
Our patriotic podium consisted of some easy painted crates to celebrate the big wins!
You can order some medals here.
These guys couldn’t resist this classic picture!
This Olympic party was one for the books! The kids not only had fun but learned great sportsmanship and the inspiration behind the competition. We all loved it! Aside from all of the fun, games, friendships, laughs, and skill we conquered the messes and spills with Bounty. We cleaned up faster and more efficiently with Bounty. Bounty Paper Towels were so perfect for everything from cleaning up food and drink messes, to sticky hands, and sweaty foreheads!
