Thrifty Finds- Christmas Gifts for Children

Sharing is caring!

I have four siblings, who are all married, and nine nieces and nephews. Throw my kids in the mix and that adds five more. That is a lot of people to buy for at Christmastime.

For years we have done a name drawing for a kiddy Christmas gift exchange. Around Thanksgiving all of the nieces and nephews are put into a drawing and each child draws a name. (Then for the adults we do a chinese/white elephant gift exchange.) We exchange gifts with a $20.00 value. Being that I have five children, I draw five children’s names.

Here are the deals I found at a local resale shop, Bearly Used, that has an annual Midnight Madness Sale right before Christmas. Everything in the store is 50% off! To make things really awesome, local companies donate new and unused toys that are still in original packaging. They are already sold at a discounted price, but you get to add the 50% off discount to these items as well!

I scored this brand new and never before opened Little Tikes Golf Set for my three year old nephew for only $7.50!

All books were $0.99 plus 50% off… I got lots of books to go with many of the gifts I found.
Here is what I found for my six year old nephew and spent $6.00 after the discount. (Football packaging was messed up on the ride home… it was at the bottom of the shopping bag. Go figure.)
Board games were $2.50 after the 50% discount. I also scored some cool Barbie lipstick and fingernail polish kits which are going to be perfect when coupled with a girly book for three of my sweet little nieces.
Each of the gift sets cost $4.00 total after the 50% discount.
Easily, each gift set is a $20.00 value and the most I spent for one item is $7.50! No one has to know what you’ve spent either- unless you blog about it.
I also found some awesome stocking stuffers for my own children (there were tons of brand new Scholastic books).
One of my favorite book finds was grabbing 10 copies of Click Clack Moo, Cows That Type for the twins to take to school for their classroom Christmas stocking exchange. Remember, books were only $.50 each!
You never know what you’ll find at a thrift store or resale shop. Ask if they have a mailing list or email list you can add your name to so you never miss out on a sale!

What about tweens? I have a tween sister and it's hard to shop for this kid! I'm clueless.
