Want to Help a Struggling School?

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever heard of Donors Choose? It is an online program that allows you to search for schools in your area that need help. Donate the way you choose and to the projects that are dear to your heart. Money is tight everywhere, we know this. Here in the North Texas area there is an endless list of school districts offering seasoned teachers early retirement packages to cut back on budgets. It is truly a sad situation.

But at the end of the day schools still need help. Classrooms are doing without.

How to Donate

It is super easy to give. You do not even have to leave your home.

Log on at www.donorchoose.org.

Pick the city and state you want to help (or the specific school).

Pick a subject, like the arts, math and science, special needs, etc.

The system will generate a list of projects that match your query.

The teachers in need give a description of the project they want to do with her students, outlining the supplies they need,  as well as how much it will cost to complete the project. There is a running tally of how many monetary donations have been made and how much more money needs to be raised to meet their goal.

Once the money is raised, DonorsChoose.org delivers the materials to the classroom so the students can complete their project. The students will share pictures and thank yous to let you see their amazing accomplishments from the contribution you made.

Are you a teacher needing help with classroom materials or want a project sponsored? Just add your project to the DonorsChoose.org  database. It is as easy as that.

I hope you’ll check it out.

  1. That is awesome! In AZ we have a way that as a married couple we can donate up to $400.00 in a year and split it up any way we want and identify if we want it to go to a specific program, teacher, etc. At the end of the year we get dollar per dollar back in our State return. So if I get all of my State return back I get to add whatever I donated to the schools and I get it back. If I was supposed to owe the State on taxes they would take off each dollar I donated off my what I owed so we get 100% of our refund back to us at the end of the year! Crazyg but amazing huh? We are going to do it because we get it back and it helps the schools out!

    1. Wow Shanna. That is really awesome. To my knowledge they do not do anything like that here in Texas. What an excellent incentive!
