Once you realize that making hot chocolate can be a fun and magical surprise every single time, you’re not going to want to make it any other way.

And I don’t blame you! This is truly a super fun holiday treat that makes an ordinary experience extraordinary!

What You Need to A Make Christmas Hot Chocolate Bomb

How To Make Hot Chocolate Bombs

Put the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals. Stir between each time. Melt fully.

Don’t like the milk chocolate? You can certainly use white chocolate instead.

Put one spoonful of the melted chocolate into the mold and using the back of your spoon, spread out the chocolate and up the sides. Do this to all the molds. (You’ll have some leftover for later)

Let chocolate harden for 2-3 hours and speed it up by putting it in the fridge.

Once set, take each piece out of the mold. Add in some of the hot cocoa mix and some of the marshmallows and sprinkles.

Take the remaining chocolate and reheat again in 15-second intervals until melted. Take an empty mold and dip the edges only into the melted chocolate. Then place that on the filled half of the mold and lightly press. You can use your finger to spread melted chocolate all around the seam, too. Do this to all bombs.

Melt the green and red chocolate according to what it says on the package. Put the melted chocolate into piping bags. Drizzle on top of the bombs. Sprinkle on the sprinkles.

Let sit for 1 hour.

Once ready to use, put the chocolate bombs in the bottom of your mug and pour 1 cup of hot milk over the top. Once melted, stir.

How do you get chocolate out of silicone molds without breaking them?

As you can see from the recipe, you need to be really careful when you’re taking them out of the molds. You also need to be certain that you add them to the freezer first and let them get hard as well. Then using your finger, you should be able to slide the chocolate out of the mold without breaking it.

Do you need to grease silicone molds?

It’s not a bad idea. Adding a lit bit of a barrier between the silicone molds and the chocolate is a simple solution that can help the chocolate slide out easier once it’s ready to be removed.
