Ingredients Needed for this Recipe
Here’s what you need to make this easy weeknight meal!
- Ground Beef– When it comes to making a delicious taco bake, the type of ground beef you use can make a big difference. You want something that’s flavorful, juicy, and tender, without being too fatty or greasy. A good option is lean or extra-lean ground beef, which will give you plenty of beefy flavor without adding too much unwanted fat.
- Taco Seasoning– Taco seasoning is the key ingredient that adds both flavor and depth to this classic comfort food. It’s the magic dust that elevates simple ground beef, beans, and tortillas into a mouth-watering explosion of spices.
- Salsa– Salsa adds depth of flavor and a little bit of heat to any dish. In a taco bake, it brings together all the different components – the seasoned ground beef, the cheesy goodness, and the crispy tortillas – into one cohesive, delicious meal.
- Cottage Cheese– Spice things up by adding cottage cheese to your taco bake! Not only will it add a creamy texture to your dish, but it’s also full of nutrients like calcium and protein. Cottage cheese also pairs perfectly with Mexican flavors like salsa and cilantro.
- Shredded Mexican Blend Cheese– There’s nothing quite like the comfort of a warm and gooey taco bake fresh out of the oven. But what makes it even better? Shredded Mexican blend cheese, of course! This cheese packs a punch with a combination of sharp cheddar, Monterey Jack, and asadero flavors.
- Corn Tortillas– But what really makes it stand out among other casseroles is the use of corn tortillas as the base. Not only do they add a delicious flavor to the dish, but they also provide a perfect texture. The tortillas soak up all the delicious spices and juices from the meat, making each bite an explosion of flavor.
