Ingredients Needed for this Bundt Cake
Here’s what you need for this Cherry Recipe!
- Unsalted Butter – Using unsalted butter in your bundt cake is super important for getting the best flavor and texture. It gives you better control over how salty the cake turns out since different recipes can call for different amounts of salt.
- Sugar – Sugar not only adds sweetness but also affects the cake’s texture and structure. By interfering with gluten formation while mixing, it helps create a tender crumb, making the cake softer and lighter.
- Large Eggs – Large eggs really help with the cake’s structure, moisture, and richness. The proteins in the eggs bind everything together, creating a solid base so the cake can rise just right in the oven. This gives it that light and fluffy texture we all love.
- All-Purpose Flour – All-purpose flour is the main ingredient that gives the cake its structure. With just the right amount of protein, it strikes a perfect balance between being tender yet strong, helping the cake rise beautifully while keeping it light and fluffy. When you mix it with the liquid ingredients, it forms gluten that gives the cake the support it needs to stand tall without collapsing.
- Baking Powder – Baking powder acts as the leavening agent that makes the cake rise and gives it that fluffy texture we all love. It’s a mix of an acid and a base that reacts when it meets the wet ingredients, producing carbon dioxide gas. This gas creates bubbles in the batter, helping it expand and rise while baking.
- Whole Milk – Whole milk really helps keep the cake moist and rich. The fat in whole milk boosts the flavor and gives it a nice tender texture, so it stays deliciously moist after baking.
- Almond Extract – Almond extract brings a unique and aromatic flavor that really elevates the dessert. The nutty essence pairs perfectly with the sweet-tart cherries, creating a lovely balance that makes each bite a delight.
- Maraschino Cherries – These cherries are a favorite addition to this cake, adding both a pop of color and a tasty kick. Their bright red hue looks gorgeous against the cake’s golden color, making it super eye-catching! Their natural tartness balances out the sweetness of the cake and the richness of the almond extract, really enhancing the flavor.
- Cream Cheese – Cream cheese adds this rich, creamy texture that goes perfectly with the cake’s moist crumb. Plus, the tangy flavor gives a nice contrast to the sweetness, making every bite even more enjoyable. The smoothness of cream cheese makes it super easy to spread or drizzle, giving the cake a gorgeous finish.
- Powdered Sugar – Powdered sugar, also called icing sugar or confectioners’ sugar, adds sweetness and gives the glaze that wonderfully smooth texture we all love. Because it’s so fine, it mixes perfectly with cream cheese, creating a velvety finish.
- Heavy Whipping Cream – Heavy whipping cream adds that luxurious texture and richness we all love. Thanks to its high fat content, it creates a smooth and creamy consistency that beautifully coats the cake. This ingredient not only helps make the glaze pourable but also gives it a delightful, velvety mouthfeel that makes each slice even more indulgent.
- Salt – Salt really brings out the flavors and balances the sweetness! Just a pinch of salt enhances the richness of the cream cheese and the sweetness of the powdered sugar, making the taste more interesting and satisfying.
