Ingredients Needed for this Delicious Casserole
Here’s what you need to make this easy weeknight meal
- Chicken Breasts– When it comes to making chicken broccoli rice casserole, choosing the right chicken breast can make all the difference. First off, you’ll want to go with boneless, skinless chicken breasts since they’re easy to prepare and won’t add extra fat to your dish. Beyond that, you’ll want to look for chicken breasts that are tender and moist, so they don’t dry out or become stringy during cooking.
- Cream of Chicken Soup– But what really makes this casserole sing is the Cream of Chicken Soup. Not only does it bring a rich and creamy texture to the dish, but it also infuses the chicken and rice with a deep, savory flavor. Trust me, you won’t get the same results with any other kind of soup.
- Frozen Broccoli– Frozen broccoli is the way to go for this dish. Not only is it convenient, as you don’t have to worry about washing and prepping fresh broccoli, but it also cooks perfectly in the casserole. The broccoli stays firm but not too crunchy, which is just the right texture for this creamy casserole. Plus, frozen broccoli retains more nutrients than fresh broccoli.
- Brown Rice– Not only does brown rice taste nuttier and more wholesome than its white counterpart, but it’s also a great source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Add some tender chicken and crisp broccoli to the mix and you’ve got yourself a filling, balanced meal that’s both delicious and nutritious.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese– There’s just something about shredded cheddar cheese that takes a dish to the next level, especially when it comes to a chicken broccoli rice casserole. Maybe it’s the way it melts and blends seamlessly into the creamy sauce, or the sharp flavor that cuts through the richness. Whatever it is, there’s no denying that cheese makes everything better, and this casserole is no exception.
- Sour Cream– Sour cream adds a creamy texture and tangy flavor to your casserole, giving it a unique and delicious taste. It’s so good, you’ll want to add a dollop of sour cream to every bite. But sour cream isn’t just for taste, it also helps to keep your casserole moist and flavorful. It’s like a secret ingredient that takes your casserole from good to great.

Do I Have to Cook Rice Before Putting in a Casserole?
If you’re a casserole fan, you may be wondering whether you need to cook rice before tossing it in with the rest of your ingredients. As a virtual assistant with plenty of experience in the culinary world, I can tell you that the answer is…it depends! Some casserole recipes may call for already-cooked rice, while others might ask you to layer it into the dish uncooked.
The main thing to keep in mind is that cooking times can vary depending on the recipe, so make sure to follow the instructions carefully. But as long as you pay attention and give your casserole enough time in the oven, you should have a delicious, satisfying dish on your hands.
What is a Good Side Dish for Chicken and Broccoli Casserole?
So you’ve got your chicken and broccoli casserole all figured out, but what about a side dish? You could always go for some classic garlic bread, but maybe you’re feeling like mixing it up a bit.
How about some roasted carrots or brussels sprouts? They’ll bring a nice pop of color and some extra veggies to the table. If you’re looking for something a little more starch-based, maybe consider a simple pasta salad or some crispy roasted potatoes. Whatever you choose, you really can’t go wrong with some good ol’ comfort food.
