Ingredients Needed for this Recipe

Here’s what you need to make these incredibly easy cookies!

  • ShorteningShortening is a type of fat that is solid at room temperature. Shortening is often used in baking because it helps to create a light, tender texture. It also helps to prevent cookies from spreading too much during baking. For these reasons, shortening is often used in recipes for gumdrop cookies.
  • White SugarWhite sugar is often the preferred type of sugar to use in baking, as it dissolves more easily than other types of sugar and helps to create a light, delicate texture. In gumdrop cookie recipes, white sugar helps to balance out the sweetness of the gumdrops and prevent the cookies from becoming too chewy.
  • Brown SugarBrown sugar is often used in baking recipes because it provides a rich flavor and moist texture. The molasses in brown sugar also helps to prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
  • Baking SodaBaking soda is a leavening agent, which means it helps dough to rise. When you add baking soda to your gumdrop cookie recipe, the dough will become light and airy. The resulting cookies will be fluffy and delicious.
  • EggsEggs are a versatile ingredient that can be used in all sorts of recipes, including gumdrop cookies. Eggs help to bind the ingredients together, making the dough less crumbly and more manageable. In addition, eggs add moisture to the dough, helping to keep the cookies soft and chewy.
  • FlourFlour is an important ingredient in any gumdrop cookie recipe. The type of flour you use will affect the texture and flavor of your cookies. For a light and fluffy cookie, use a cake flour or all-purpose flour. If you want a chewy cookie, use bread flour.
  • SaltSalt is an essential ingredient in any gumdrop cookie recipe. Without salt, the gumdrops would be too sweet and lack the desired flavor. Salt also helps to balance out the sweetness of the sugar and fat in the recipe. In addition, salt acts as a leavening agent, helping the gumdrops to rise and giving them a light and fluffy texture.
  • VanillaVanilla is a popular flavor for gumdrop cookies because it has a strong, sweet aroma and pairs well with the chewy texture of the gumdrops. Vanilla is also a versatile flavor that can be used in a variety of recipes, from cakes and cookies to ice cream and even savory dishes. When used in baking, Vanilla extract helps to enhance the flavor of other ingredients and gives the final product a rich, complex flavor.
  • OatmealOatmeal is a great ingredient to use in a gumdrop cookie recipe for a few reasons. First, it helps to absorb excess moisture from the dough, preventing the cookies from turning out too soft or mushy. Second, the oats add a pleasant, nutty flavor that pairs well with the sweetness of the gumdrops.
  • Shredded CoconutShredded coconut is a great choice for a gumdrop cookie recipe for several reasons. First, it gives the cookies a nice, chewy texture. Second, it adds a bit of sweetness to the recipe without making the cookies too sweet.
  • GumdropsRed and green gumdrops look festive and taste great but you can really use any kind of gumdrop in this recipe. If you want to mix things up, try using different colors or flavor combinations. Whatever you do, just be sure to use plenty of gumdrops! They’re the key ingredient in this recipe, after all.

Can You Freeze Gumdrop Cookies?

Have you ever made gumdrop cookies? They’re a festive treat that’s perfect for the holidays. And the best part is, they’re really easy to make! The key ingredient is, of course, gumdrops. You can find them in the candy aisle at your local grocery store. Just be sure to get the ones that are coated with sugar. Now, some people like to add raisins or other dried fruits to their gumdrop cookies. But I think that gumdrops are really all you need.

So, can you freeze gumdrop cookies? Yes, you can! In fact, I think they taste even better when they’re frozen. Just be sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil before placing them in the freezer. That way, they’ll stay fresh for up to two months. So go ahead and make a big batch of gumdrop cookies. They’ll keep in the freezer until you’re ready to enjoy them!

Are Spice Drops and Gumdrops the Same?

If you’ve ever been to a candy store, you’ve probably noticed that there are two types of “drops” on the shelves – gumdrops and spice drops. But what’s the difference between these two popular confections? For starters, gumdrops are typically made with sugar, corn syrup, and gelatin, while spice drops generally contain honey, molasses, and spices like cinnamon and cloves.

This difference in ingredients gives gumdrops a chewy, jelly-like texture, while spice drops are usually harder and less sticky. In terms of flavor, gumdrops are often fruity or minty, while spice drops tend to be more intense and have a warming effect. Finally, gumdrops are typically round or oval-shaped, while spice drops can be any shape. So next time you’re standing in front of the candy counter, you’ll know exactly which type of drop to choose.

What’s the Best Flour for Making Cookies?

There are a lot of different types of flour out there, and it can be tricky to know which one to use for baking cookies. In general, you want to use a flour that will give your cookies a nice, tender texture. For gumdrop cookies, we recommend using a bleached all-purpose flour. This type of flour has been treated with chemicals to make it extra white, and it also has a slightly higher protein content, which helps the cookies to hold their shape.

However, if you’re looking for a more natural option, unbleached all-purpose flour will work just as well. Whatever type of flour you use, be sure to measure it correctly – too much or too little flour can ruin your cookies!
