Ingredients Needed for this Dessert

Here’s what you need to make this apple pie!

  • Apples – The type of apples you use can really change the pie’s taste and feel. For example, tart apples like Granny Smith give a nice zing that balances out the sweetness of the sugar, while sweeter ones like Honeycrisp or Fuji make it super indulgent.
  • Brown Sugar – It adds a rich flavor that white sugar just can’t match. The molasses gives it a nice sweetness and a hint of caramel that really brings out the taste of the pie. This sweet, complex flavor pairs perfectly with the tart apples, making for a delicious balance and a warm, inviting smell while it bakes.
  • Crushed Pineapple with Juice – Crushed pineapple with juice is such a tasty twist for your homemade apple pie! It really brings out the flavors and makes the pie even more appealing. The natural acidity of the pineapple balances out the sweetness of the apples and brown sugar, so it’s not overly sweet.
  • Cinnamon – Cinnamon really brings warmth and depth to the flavor. This aromatic spice pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the apples and brown sugar, adding a cozy, nostalgic feel. The earthy notes of cinnamon balance out the tartness of the apples, creating a delicious mix of flavors.
  • Cornstarch – It acts as a thickening agent that helps achieve that ideal filling consistency. When you heat it up, cornstarch soaks up the juices from the apples, turning them into a smooth, gel-like texture that keeps your pie from getting too runny. This is super important because nobody wants a messy pie!
  • Refrigerated Pie Crusts – Refrigerated pie crusts are so convenient—you don’t have to spend time making dough from scratch. This means you can focus on whipping up that delicious filling while still getting a flaky, tender crust.
  • Egg – Brushing on a beaten egg before baking gives the crust a gorgeous golden-brown color that’s really tempting. Plus, it adds a nice glossy finish that makes your pie look like it came from a professional bakery!

Using homemade pie crust instead of store-bought can really take your apple pie to the next level.
