Ingredients Needed to Make this Recipe
Here’s what you need to make this delicious meal!
- Garlic– Garlic is a versatile ingredient that can be used in many different dishes. It has a strong flavor that can add depth and dimension to a dish. When used in beef stew, garlic enhances the flavor of the beef and other ingredients.
- Beef Broth– Beef broth is a classic ingredient in beef stew. There are a few reasons why it’s so essential. First, the broth helps to keep the meat moist and tender as it cooks. Second, the broth adds flavor to the stew, giving it a rich and savory taste. Finally, the broth helps to thicken the stew, resulting in a heartier dish.
- Baby Carrots– Baby carrots are a delicious and healthy addition to any beef stew. Baby carrots are small and sweet, and they add a crunchy texture to the stew. Baby carrots are also a good source of fiber and vitamins A and C.
- Potatoes– Potatoes are a great addition to beef stew for a few reasons. First, they help to thicken the stew as they cook and release their starch into the broth. This gives the stew a rich, silky texture that is perfect for a cold winter day.
- Cornstarch– Cornstarch is a key ingredient in many recipes, including beef stew. When added to the stew, it helps to thicken the liquid, giving the stew a richer texture. Cornstarch is also effective at absorbing flavors, allowing the other ingredients in the stew to shine through.
- Canola Oil– Canola oil is also a good choice for beef stew because it has a neutral flavor that will not overwhelm the other ingredients. Additionally, canola oil helps to tenderize the meat and keeps the vegetables from sticking to the pot.
- Beef Stew Meat– Beef Stew Meat is a great choice for beef stew because it is already cut into small, uniform pieces. This makes it easy to cook evenly, and ensures that the beef stew will have a consistent texture throughout. Beef Stew Meat is also relatively lean, so it will not add too much fat to the dish.
- Salt– Salt helps to season the meat and helps to tenderize it. The Salt breaks down the proteins in the beef, making it more tender and flavorful.
- Pepper– Pepper is actually a great way to add flavor to this hearty dish. The boldness of the pepper helps to complement the rich taste of the beef, while the heat of the pepper helps to balance out the sweetness of the other ingredients.
- Dried Parsley– Dried parsley is a common herb that is often used to garnish dishes or add flavor. However, it can also be used to make beef stew taste even better. Dried parsley has a slightly sweet taste that can help to balance out the savory flavors of the beef and vegetables.
- Onion– Onion has a few properties that make it perfect for stew. First, onion is very hearty and can stand up to long cooking times without losing its flavor. Secondly, onion has a strong flavor that can help to enhance the taste of the beef.

Why is My Stew Meat Tough in Instant Pot?
If you’ve ever tried making beef stew in an Instant Pot, you may have been disappointed to find that your stew meat came out tough and chewy. There are a few reasons why this may have happened. First, it’s important to brown the beef before adding it to the pot. This helps to create a flavorful crust on the outside of the meat that will remain tender when cooked. Second, stew meat is best cooked slowly over low heat.
The high pressure of the Instant Pot can cause the meat to toughen up if it’s cooked for too long. Finally, be sure to add enough liquid to the pot. The beef will release some of its own juices as it cooks, but you may need to add additional broth or water to prevent the meat from drying out. With these tips in mind, you can create a delicious beef stew that will be enjoyed by all.

What Vegetables Can I Add to My Beef Stew?
beef stew is a delicious and hearty meal that can be made even tastier with the addition of some fresh vegetables. While there are many different vegetables that can be used in beef stew, some of the best options include potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions. These vegetables not only add flavor to the dish, but they also help to create a more filling and satisfying meal.
In addition, these vegetables can also be cooked in beef stew without requiring any additional preparation. Simply add them to the pot along with the beef and other ingredients, and they will cook to perfection in the beef stew. As a result, adding some fresh vegetables to beef stew is an easy way to make this already delicious dish even tastier.
What Should I Serve with Beef Stew?
Beef stew is a hearty dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. However, it can be tricky to know what to serve with beef stew. One option is to pair it with a simple green salad. The salad will provide a refreshing contrast to the rich beef stew. Another option is to serve beef stew over mashed potatoes. This will create a complete meal that is both filling and satisfying. If you are looking for something a little bit different, you could also try serving beef stew with crispy roasted potatoes. Whatever you decide to serve with beef stew, make sure that you enjoy every bite!

Instant Pot Beef Stew
This beef stew is the perfect comfort food for a chilly day. It's made in the Instant Pot so you don't have to spend all day in the kitchen.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Canola Oil
- 2 Pounds Beef Stew Meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Parsley Flakes
- 1 Small Onion, diced
- 4 Cloves Garlic, minced
- 4 Cups Beef Broth
- 1 Pound Baby Carrots
- 6 Medium Potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch mixed with 2 Tablespoons Cold Water
Instructions
- Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and add canola oil. When the pot has heated, add stew meat and stir to brown all sides. Season with salt, pepper, and dried parsley.
- After the meat has begun to brown, add the onion. Cook for two minutes more, then add the garlic.
- When the meat is browned, turn off the instant pot and remove the meat. Add one cup of beef broth and deglaze the pot by scraping the bottom of the pan with a wooden spatula to remove stuck-on pieces of meat and onion.
- Add the remaining beef broth, carrots, potatoes, and meat to the pot and stir to combine.
- Place the lid on the Instant Pot and seal. Set the Pot to the stew setting or to pressure cook for 35 minutes.
- When the time is up, do a quick release and remove the lid from the Instant Pot. Add the cornstarch and water mixture and stir to combine. Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and allow the stew to simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally, to thicken the liquid before serving.
