You treat rotiserrie chicken the same as you do any other cooked chicken. As long as you refrigerate it and keep it cold, it is good for 3-5 days.

  1. This is such a great post! Several nights a month I bring home a rotisserie chicken due to time constraints. I’ve been looking for new ideas to spruce up these dinners. Now I have a place to start! Pinned 🙂

I use rotisserie chicken for chicken and sausage gumbo and chicken and dumplings. I also buy those packaged scalloped potatoes and add chicken in those. Rice-a-Roni is another I add rotisserie chicken too. When I debone the rotisserie chicken, I save the skin, fat, bones, all of it and freeze them. When I get around 3 or 4 I put them in my Nesco electric oven with water, celery, carrots, garlic and onions and cook on low for 24 hours. Makes the most awesome bone broth and tons of it. I like the garlic butter rotisserie chickens from Walmart. Another thing I do is I buy about 3 rotisserie chickens, debone them and freeze the chicken meat in 2 cup portions. I use my FoodSaver bags after the chicken is frozen. Great way to add chicken to dishes.

  3. Wow, Crystal, these recipes are great. I love rotissarie chicken but have failed to come up with ideas for what to do with the remaining chicken after the initial meal. NOW I KNOW!!! ♥

  4. This is a great post! I haven’t bought a rotisserie chicken in a while but will be adding these recipes to my menu. Pinned! Thanks for linking up this week. #HomeMattersParty

  5. I boil the bones, wings, skin, anything left over after removing meat and make chicken broth. Add water to cover bones in 3 quart pot. Boil about 30 minutes or so then strain into large container. Put bones back in pot and add water again and boil another 30 minutes, strain again. After bones cool, discard. Season to taste with salt and Wylers Chicken Cubes or Powder. Cover and let broth cool, then place in refrigerator over-night. Next day, skim off fat & discard. Pour into small containers with lids, or ice trays & freeze. After broth is frozen remove from containers and place in large freezer bag. Depending on the size of chicken, I sometimes get 2 quarts of broth.
