What Shapes are Pattern Blocks

There are six geometric shapes that we use in these pattern pages. Each shape is a different color. There is a green triangle, an orange square, a blue parallelogram, a tan rhombus, a red trapezoid, and yellow hexagon. All of these shapes are used to create designs.

What Do You Do with Pattern Blocks

You use the different patterns to create, extend and identify patterns. They are a great way to encourage children to use their imagination and to be creative. They are also great for building math skills.

What Do Pattern Blocks Teach Children?

They are great for teaching shapes, obviously, but they are also excellent for exposing children to fractions, angles, patterns, measurement, problem solving, spacial skills and more! They are a great early math manipulative for homeschoolers and traditional classrooms.

We have many librarians, occupational therapists, parents, teachers and more using these printable mats!

Handwriting Practice and Simple Math

Each of our pattern block pages also has simple math where your young learner will tally how many of each shape they have used. This is great for improving addition skills.

Each page also has handwriting practice where the students will trace the word on the page which references the name of the shape they are creating. This is great for spelling and vocabulary, but also for fine motor development.

How Are Teachers and Homeschoolers Using Pattern Block Printables?

Some teachers and homeschoolers like to use them for morning time, small groups, math centers, morning baskets, pretend play, fine motor skill development and more! You can also laminate them to use the same pages over and over again.
