I am about to share with you the most amazing and most easy sugar cookie recipe I have made yet! I love this recipe y’all!
I started making it about five years ago. I used it the first time at my little Matthew’s first birthday party.
It creates soft, perfect, butter flavored (with a hint of lemon) cookies you will ever devour! Since then, it has been my go to. These are perfect for making easy Christmas cookies.
Let me show you how simple it is to create.
Ingredients for Easy Sugar Cookies:
- 5 1/2 c all purpose flour
- 3 c granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 lb salted butter, at room temperature
- 1 T vanilla extract
- 1 T lemon extract (you could use almond extract instead if you want)
Other Items You’ll Need:
- kitchen mixer (this is the one I have and it is worth every penny)
- clear plastic wrap
If you love this sugar cookie recipe, you will love my husbands Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies or these Loft Sugar Cookies.
In your large mixer mix the butter and sugar on medium speed.
It will look like the picture below.
Slowly add the eggs. Once well combine, move to high speed and mix until fluffy.
Then add both extracts.
Next add the flour slowly on a low speed.
I added one cup at a time.
Once all 5 and a half cups are added and it is well combine, you can move the standing mixer speed up to medium. (f you prefer a hand mixer you could use that instead, I just feel it is easier with my KitchenAide standing mixer.)
Once it is well mixed it will look like this.
Now we need to chill the dough.
Grab some cellophane wrap and lay it out on your table or counter.
Scoop the dough onto the wrap.
Wrap thoroughly and place it the fridge for 2-3 hours.
Once it is chilled, you can roll it out with a rolling pin and use this sugar cookie recipe for so many different creations!
One of my favorite ways to use it is with cookie cutters or in the cookie press.
Whatever you don’t use, re-wrap it and place it back in the fridge. This can keep for a week or so.
When You’re Ready to Bake
Easiest sugar cookie recipe ever and seriously it never fails!!
Roll the dough and grab your cookie cutters or presses.
Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until lightly golden. The less baking time the softer your cookies will be. I personally love a soft sugar cookie.
Let them cool on wire racks.
Freeze your leftovers, wrapped well in cellophane and then placed in a large freezer bag for 3-5 months.

Can I replace the lemon with almond or anise extract?
Absolutely! That actually sounds amazing!
Does the T stand for teaspoon or tablespoon, thanks
Big T is always tablespoon and little t is always teaspoon. These are standard references.
Hope that helps!
Tablespoom, when its capital, teaspoon when its not tsp

I just want to verify that it’s all purpose flour used in this recipe and not self rising flour.
Yes, all purpose.
You are sure there’s no salt baking powder or baking soda in this recipe
I’m sure.
